Goodbye fbalpha, welcome fbneo

Added support for more arcade hardware using that tms34010 cpu from midway games :
- Cheese Chase
- Stone Ball
- Ultimate Tennis
@roslof you might want to follow this topic for compatibility list updates : FBNeo is probably a better choice than mame2016 for the NBA hangtime games if that one got no sound (are you sure it's not an issue with sound being too low in service menu ?).

Sounds good @barbudreadmon. I'll definitely check it out. A lot of the time, the ROMsets are compatible, but if you update the ROMset to a newer version, I can't really verify, but I can follow, test, and minimally update the notes if you believe things work properly. But for NBA Hangtime, I think I have what I need to check.

@barbudreadmon a quick test shows everything looks good on Pi4B. You were correct: Test Menu volume issue. Interesting that some of these Midway games default to such a low volume. I noted in the compatibility list how to increase the volume for each game that requires the change.
Noted a couple of times (and might already be a known issue) that when long-pressing start to enter test mode, when returning to a game, sometimes the game speed would get thrown off (too fast) until a restart. Not a major problem, but worth noting.
Love the software!

Correct. lr-fbneo for ARM/RPi4B.

ok, just to confirm because it doesn't seem i'm able to reproduce, this is with
nbahangt
? Is it very noticeable when the issue happen ? Everything is sped up or only music/animation ?edit: you are using latest version built from sources, right ? around 1 week ago, those nba games had some speed issues (it was the other way around though : characters were running too slow)
-
@barbudreadmon Decided to finally update fbneo from source last night and sort some games that I was originally using on mame2016. Some bugs with a few games I briefly tested but I don't know if they're reported.
Alien Syndrome
aliensyn.zip
and E-Swateswat.zip
load to a black screen. I can see the fps counter and I can exit the game normally.
Moonwalker's audio is at a higher pitchmwalk.zip
.
Crime Fighterscrimfght.zip
has issues with the volume. Sound effects are way too low and the music volume lowers itself sometimes. -

Yeah, i discovered that one 2 weeks ago, it's related to hiscores (actually those games will work if you disable hiscores by turning off the core option or removing hiscore.dat), we have a fix ready but we haven't commited it yet because we are worried it could cause hiscore deletion in some other games.

I can't hear a difference between FBNeo and this video of the pcb :
Maybe you are running the game at 60Hz because vsync is enabled and
vrr_runloop_enable
(Sync to Exact Content Framerate) is set tofalse
? The game run at 57.23Hz and i think mame2016 doesn't care aboutvrr_runloop_enable
and will force the game at 57.23Hz whether it's enabled or not.@darksavior said in Goodbye fbalpha, welcome fbneo:

Yeah, this one will need adjustments.
Edit : fixes for
aliensyn
,eswat
andcrimfght
are on git -
@barbudreadmon Thanks. Vsync is enabled and
vrr_runloop_enable = "false"
. I enabled it but it still has the high audio pitch and it's still 60fps. Yea, mame2016 sounds fine and it hovers around 57fps. -

Looks like a setup or a pi4 issue since this setting works as expected with below-60Hz games on my pi3. Sadly i won't be able to help you with that, and that's pretty bad since tons of games run below 60Hz.
-
@barbudreadmon Here we go. My mistake. I forgot there's multiple cfg's. I enabled it through the retroarch gui instead of editing the cfg file and that vrr setting seems to be working now.

Added support for yet another tms34010 game : Exterminator
-
A new batch of tms34010 games, this time it was the turn of midway Y-Unit board :
- High Impact Football
- Super High Impact
- Mortal Kombat (older versions of the game)
- Narc (the constant digital noise, present on original game, was removed from that one : while accuracy is generally good, too much accuracy will just give you a headache in that case...)
- Smash TV
- Strike Force
- Terminator 2 - Judgment Day
- Total Carnage
- Trog
- Trog prototype (this one is basically a different game from final version)
-
@barbudreadmon looking good.
Only issue is with Smash TV, which requires dual-analog controls. Left moves. Right fires (same controls as Robotron). FWIW Total Carnage is fine.Cheers!

Oops, i overlooked this one, thanks for the report, fixed !

Added support for :
- 2 on 2 Open Ice Challenge
- Judge Dredd proto
- NBA Hangtime
- NBA Jam
- NBA Jam TE
- NBA Maximum HT
- WWF: Wrestlemania
Are these expected to run choppily on a Pi 3B+? I tested Open Ice 2on2, NBAJam TE and WWF Mania, but only NBA Jam TE ran without stuttering sound or much slowdown.

Probably, midway W-Unit is about twice the specs of CPS3, which is the upper limit on pi3 afaik (beyond the limit if you use widescreen mode in sfiii/sfiii2)

Got your back.
Verified fixed. Love the update. -
@roslof Btw, you might consider adding
trogp
to your compatibility list as a different game since that prototype had significantly different gameplay from the final version.
