      I have the correct bios, and regular PSX games work. When I try to launch a PBP game it goes back to the menu. The reason I'm trying to do this is to play games with multiple discs.

          My thought: bpb has not been added to the systems.es for PSX.
          At least i had to do that when i set up PSX some years ago, i am not sure if bpb is there by default now.

            BPB no, PBP yes, it's now by default added to the list of ROM extensions for the psx system.

                Out from nowhere i also recognized a problem with pbp.
                My pbp of "Raystorm" did not work today 😐.
                It worked before, it seems to be broken since i updated all packages with the upgrade to the retropie - script 4.4.4.

                I solved it by replacing it with a bin-image of the game, but i wonder what happened? 🤔

                I recognized that the emulator lr-psx rearmed seemed to be updated, retroarch tells me in the RGUI that the version is from 10/2018.
                Does anyone know if something significant changed concerning supported game-titles?
                In special in pbp-format?

                  That's the date the program binary was produced, not the version. lr-pcsx-rearmed hasn't seem any major updates lately so it's less likely it's the emulator. Can you get the logfile (/dev/shm/runcommand.log) taken with verbose logging when you launch the game ? Upload it to pastebin.com so we can take a look.

                    @mitu thank you Mitu!
                    I had a look in the errorlog of runcommand, it seemed to run well for what i read.
                    But i have to admit that i dont unterstand every single term that was logged.

                    I will post it tomorrow, i am at my girlfriend right now preparing hannuka-prrsents for tomorrow evening 😊
