I just did a clean install of Retropie 4.4. I am using two NES30 PRO controllers.
One of the controllers connect using the Retropie setup script, but only one the second will never connect? Getting and error that it can be connected.
So using one controller when booting it won't auto connect during boot as it did in previous version of retropie without issue.
I tried changing the BT settings to boot and background but nothing. So i go back to BT setting to connect all know devices and it connects right away.
From there i start ES (because botting without the controller connecting during boot ES won't find it) and now i can mapp the buttons in ES.

      So two things

      1. How to get the controller to auto connect during boot (that in previous retropie systems worked fine!) ?
      2. Why can't i connects a second controller anymore (that in previous retropie systems worked fine!) ?

All new retropie image, 8bitdo controllers updated to latest firmware!
Should i just ue one of my old backups of retropie 3.x.x something or is it possible to use 4.4?
Seems like BT got worse in the new updates..?

@stahl80 Stop both controller before RP starts, make sure RP is started (no need to reboot if otherwise), then start both controllers. Does this make them both connect ?

@mitu Nope. Cant even get both configures in bluetooth, one is fine to configure in the BT settings but won't connects during boot. The other can't even be paired.

The weird thing is that is works on older retropie releases so something must have changed to the worse in newer versions or I'm doing something very wrong and can't see what.

@stahl80 RetroPie only does the pairing, the rest is up to the OS. Can you check if they report the same MAC address ? I know some PRO models for 8Bitdo have multiple connection modes (Android/Win/Switch) - I don't remember correctly which one was the best for a PI, but I think it was the Switch mode.

              @mitu HI!

They report different mac adresses. I followed this guide to set then up: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/8Bitdo-Controller

Anyone else sucsessfully using one or more 8Bitdo controllers in retropie 4.4?
How did you do or did it work right away?

Could there be an issue with my bluetooth module?

Been searching a lot and seems this issue has been for some time now for many users.

Trying the last post in this page now https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/1905/retropie-3-8-bluetooth-configure-issue/40
