    steamlink doesn't start - fallback to Ports Menu immediatly

      Power Supply used: sufficent
      RetroPie Version Used : 4.4
      Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: Xbox 360 wireless Receiver
      Controller used: XBox 360 Controller
      Error messages received: none
      Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log:

      cat /dev/shm/runcommand.log
      Parameters:
      Executing: xinit /opt/retropie/ports/steamlink/steamlink_xinit.sh -- vt1 -keeptty
      /opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 1007: xinit: command not found

      Hello Together,

      I have an issue starting steamlink. I will get the above mentioned Log in runcommand.log.

      I made a clean install of the 4.4 image. Updated the updatescript in retropie-setup and installed the steamlink programm from experimental packages.

      Yesterday I made the whole update (incl. Kernel etc.). After this ES won't start and hang on a command prompt (login). So I made everything new today.

      I have seriously no idea what I did wrong. As my expierence with Linux systems is really bad, maybe you can ELI5 to me?

        That's a Raspbian update that disables auto-login. Just login with user pi and password raspberrry and then you can enable again the auto-login by running sudo raspi-config from the terminal - see this page.

        For the Steamlink package, well, there's a reason it's experimental. You can wait for the script to be updated to include the xinit dependency. Take a look at this topic for an interim solution, but if you don't have any experience with Linux, just wait for an updated package by watching the Steamlink topic.
