Edit: (The issue was occurring because of a slow USB stick that was in the pi.)

Hello! I'm new to this community so my knowledge isn't the greatest, but I've recently purchased my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ and have been noticing this issue when I play any game. All the way from nes to n64, it will always freeze for a few seconds then go back to normal. The weird part about it is that you can still do things in the game because you can hear it playing, but just for some reason, the video is frozen! I even have issues scrolling in the menu sometimes because it will also freeze for a few seconds.

I've looked through many posts as to how I should fix this but I have yet to find anyway how.

And to clarify, I do not have any lightning bolt or warning issues anywhere. I have Cana Kits 5V 2.5A power supply.

I just started using my Raspberry Pi as of yesterday because my power supply just came in, and this issue has always been here from the start.

It's a bummer that I already have an issue on the first day of using it, but any help would be appreciated!

This is similar to under-voltage problems, which cause the Pi to underclock itself (throttle down) when things require more power. Do you get an under-voltage sign on the top right corner of your screen (yellow lightning) ?

Also, could you please add more info about your system - as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

          I don't get any warning anywhere :(

And I'm using version 4.4 of retro pie,
The only USBs connected are my PS4 controller, keyboard and a USB stick

@wmarcio Actually, the issue was caused by a similar thing! Instead, it was the usb that I had connected into the pi. All my freezing and stuttering has finally stopped. Thank you for the help!
