Arcade button mapping issue
-
So I am building an arcade cabinet and I ran into a button issue. I have wired up two button setups with joysticks. With fresh retropie install. Here is what happens. I configure player 1 with no issues. Then when player 2 is configured the controls on player one go crazy. Hotkeys don’t work. Start no longer works and the directions on the joystick become opposites. I’ve looked online and I’ve seen some help looking at physical wiring to usb encoders but that isn’t it bc the controls work fine for the most recently configured control. It definitely seems like a software issue or perhaps a a config mismap. Has anyone run into this as well and found a way to fix it so multiple arcade station controls can be utilized at once? Also would like to have the retroarch menu and hotkey enabled on both controls which doesn’t seem to be happening. I’m betting that’s a configuration file as well. Anyone run into this? Any help is appreciated and thank you.

@bswin821 how man button to usb converter things are you using? If your using two are you putting all of your buttons in the same place? Both a buttons in the same port, both b buttons in the same port?

@bswin821 Make sure that both controllers are wired identically in the encoders - i.e. button X on P1 has the same spot as button X on P2. Since both controllers have the same name/model, configuring 1 controller will automatically apply the same mapping to the 2nd one - so you only need to configure 1 controller.
As for the RGUI, only P1 can bring it up - that's something that cannot be configured at the moment. -
So I figured it out I believe. You were right on with my joystick. It was mounted opposite of the other one. I also realized that the reason the start button just stopped working is because the master controller which as you say there is only one for now. Is the other controller so it works in menu but not in game. Which makes sense now knowing the retroarch and all hotkeys only apply to the master. Thanks for the insight
