I was going to play on my Retro Pie this morning and noticed when I booted the Pi 3 up, the power light was blinking like mad, worst I have ever seen.

After fiddling around, I noticed when I unplugged my Hori Pokken Tournament controller, the power stopped blinking.

I plugged it in again, same power issue.

I plug in a broken A Button generic USB Controller, no power issue.

I have used this Pokken Controller for 7 months now and never had issues.

I am currently using 4.4.8 of Retro Pie, I had ran the update when it was released and afterwards, just shut the pi down with no issues and haven't played it since till today.

Can anyone replicate the issue with their Hori Pokken Tournament controller with the latest Pi release & Emulation Station? Also using Retroarch 1.7.6, but I had played it before with Retroarch 1.7.6 and it was OK before Pi 4.4.8

I thought it was my power adaptor & it's not.

I also have a USB keyboard attached to the pi and it's OK, only when the Pokken is plugged in does the power light blink crazy.

Also since the latest 4.4.8, the Pokken wasn't even found as a controller, if that helps.

@mat I have no problem with mine - it just works like any other USB device. I too have the 4.4.8 RP version, using the 4.4 Raspbian Stretch based RetroPie version.
Can you run - from the command line:

        sudo dmesg -c

plug the controller and reproduce the problem - you might even try to configure the controller in Emulationstation. Then run

        sudo dmesg > /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/dmesg.txt`

and the get the dmesg.txt file from the ROMs folder and post it to pastebin.com.
Also, please add some info about your system, as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Not sure what the problem is, but I used my broken USB SNES controller, updated the scripts again, and replugged in the Pokken controller, and now it works.

I also set up the broken controller on startup, where the Hokken didn't get seen on startup since that updated in my first post.

              NOW it's working.

The problem was I updated to 4.4.8 script when it was released same day, shut my system off. Been awhile since I turned it on, when I did, my red light flashed VERY rapidly, I unplugged the Pokken & keyboard and it stopped flashing.

I plugged in the Keyboard and it was OK, I replugged the Pokken and it flashed rapidly again.

So I tried a broken generic SNES USB controller and no problem, I set up the controller as a new one and unplugged it, I replugged in the Pokken and it works with no power issue.

But I think my Pokken is being read as a Generic SNES USB controller.

Also my system is a Raspberry Pie 3, all stock.

But I think my Pokken is being read as a Generic SNES USB controller.

Mine appears as Hori Pokken, etc. when running a simple lsusb:

                lsusb
                [...]
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0f0d:0092 Hori Co., Ltd

Using cat /proc/bus/input/devices shows also as a Hori Pokken controller

                I: Bus=0003 Vendor=0f0d Product=0092 Version=0111
                N: Name="HORI CO.,LTD. POKKEN CONTROLLER"

                B: PROP=0
                B: EV=1b

                B: MSC=10

Are yo sure you're not looking at the other controller ?
