Lr-parallel-n64 game-options file blank?
-
Out of curiosity I have been playing with Lr-parallel-n64 to see if perhaps it can run some games that the other emulators/plugins cant. However I am having an issue with saving a game options file. It seems that no matter what settings I change in the RA quick menu, the settings are reverted back to the stock settings when I reboot the game. When I inspect the game-options file it is blank. Im using the latest Lr-parallel-n64 built from source, I will check to see if the binary version is having the same issue.
This is on my 3b+ running retropie 4.4

@quicksilver How do the games themselves run with that emulator ? I haven't had time to test it myself. (I installed it).

@ByteThis default settings work terrible but if I manually change the core config to use different graphics plugins then I have actually gotten decent performance out of it. I actually got Mario golf to somewhat work using the rice plugin whereas all other emulators I have tested either crash or have even worse issues.
I still can't figure out though why my per game configs only save a blank file. So far only editing the core config has let me save any changes.
-
@quicksilver That's a shame it doesn't work with default settings. But I guess this is a DIY thing after all.
Maybe more input is needed from end users using this emulator. May have bugs.Doesn't sound very inviting. lol

@quicksilver I noticed the same thing.
here are the configs I could get out of retroarch-core-options.cfg, I guessed the one for dithering. It's not a half bad emulator.parallel-n64-gfxplugin = "parallel" parallel-n64-gfxplugin-accuracy = "high" parallel-n64-screensize = "320x240" parallel-n64-dithering = "disabled"
I think the other options for gfx plugin are "glide64" "gln64" "rice" "parallel"
"angrylion" and "vulkan" don't work.
Note that using "glide64" and plugin accuracy "high" or "very high" fixes the subscreen delay in OoT and the avatar completely. -
So I tested out the binary version as well and game option files still do not work. This is really strange. It's the only emulator that does this.

@quicksilver I still haven't had the time yet to test this myself..professional and personal life consumes my time. I wish there were other people for you to compare results. It does sound like a head scratcher. I am hoping for this wknd as I have some free time. I appreciate the feedback from you in this thread. Thanks for updating.

@BuZz I'm fairly certain this issue is a bug/conflict somewhere and isn't unique to my setup. I would like to report the issue more officially. But I am unsure if it belongs on the retropie GitHub issue tracker or lr-parallel-n64. My apologies for the direct ping, I just know you prefer issues be discussed here first but my post didn't get a lot of traction.

And here are the parallel-n64 core options for retroarch-core-options.cfg.
edited the order and options so they are more easily referenced also I found the one for synchronous rdp.parallel-n64-cpucore = "dynamic_recompiler" dynamic_recompiler|cached_interpreter|pure_interpreter parallel-n64-audio-buffer-size = "2048" 2048|1024 parallel-n64-astick-deadzone = "15" parallel-n64-astick-sensitivity = "100" parallel-n64-pak1 = "none" none|memory|rumble parallel-n64-pak2 = "none" none|memory|rumble parallel-n64-pak3 = "none" none|memory|rumble parallel-n64-pak4 = "none" none|memory|rumble parallel-n64-disable_expmem = "enabled" parallel-n64-gfxplugin-accuracy = "veryhigh" veryhigh|high|medium|low parallel-n64-parallel-rdp-synchronous = "enabled" parallel-n64-send_allist_to_hle_rsp = "disabled" parallel-n64-gfxplugin = "auto" auto|glide64|gln64|rice|angrylion|parallel parallel-n64-rspplugin = "auto" auto|hle|cxd4 parallel-n64-screensize = "640x480" 320x240 parallel-n64-aspectratiohint = "normal" parallel-n64-filtering = "automatic" automatic|N64 3-point|bilinear|nearest parallel-n64-dithering = "enabled" enabled|disabled parallel-n64-polyoffset-factor = "-3.0" [-5.0]-[5.0] in 0.5 increments parallel-n64-polyoffset-units = "-3.0" parallel-n64-angrylion-vioverlay = "disabled" parallel-n64-virefresh = "auto" auto|1500|2200 parallel-n64-bufferswap = "disabled" parallel-n64-framerate = "original" original|fullspeed parallel-n64-alt-map = "disabled" parallel-n64-boot-device = "Default" Default|64DD IPL parallel-n64-64dd-hardware = "disabled"

lr-mupen64plus-next is released. And it is good, you must try it and ignore my previous post. It is in the experimental section.
