Was wandering if the Dolphin emulator would be able to run on the Raspberry Pi 4 (when retropie is supported).

Dolphin currently has two verisons: x86 and Android / ARM. I realise that it would likely not run well, though it would be a fantastic proof-of-concept and hopefully act as an incentive to better support the Rpi in the future. In addition to this, the Rpi 4 supports the required OpenGL ES 3 unlike previous versions.

There is a guide to compiling on Linux: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=Building_Dolphin_on_Linux
And the source code is also available to compile manually: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin

@Tecboy1066 it's possible it could "work" on a pi 4 but don't get your hopes up that many games will be playable if it all. I'd be happy to be wrong about that but it's best to keep expectations in check.

@quicksilver I completely agree. Though if it could be ported over, I'm sure improvements could then be made to the point of 'somewhat decent' playability maybe on an upcoming pi 5 or even an overclocked pi 4 .

Here is a video of dolphin running well at 2x native res on a:

          • intel pentium b950 @ 2.10 Ghz (2c 2t)
          • nvidia geforce gt 520m 1GB
          • 4GB ddr3 ram

Not expecting results anywhere near this, though gives a good idea of the state of gamecube / wii emulation and the relatively low computing power needed.

I'm new to retropie, the PI4 was sleeping nearly a year until I guess I found a project where I want to use it. :-)
although well documented on the github it is not for raspberry pi, did anybody try to compile and build it as a selectable option in retropie based on a raspberry pi 4, suceeded and has a half-newbie howto for this? :-)

            thank you!
