I am wondering what the best way to assign an overlay per Arcade game is in Retropie? Right now I will launch the game, open up the Retroarch menu, go over to the overlay option and select the one (overlay file) I want. Then I "Save game overrides." This ensures only that game uses that overlay. Are there any adverse affects by doing it this way?

For SNES, Genesis, NES, I use a universal overlay for each system. I just "Save core overrides" so every game launches with the system overlay.

That is exactly the way I have done it. Did look at scripting it but a lot of my Arcade overlays need to move the screen to fit correctly with diferent aspect ratios
