Some PlayStation Games Failing to Fully Launch
-
Right now I have two games that work on ePSXe on my PC, but not on RetroPie.
- “Arcade’s Greatest Hits - The Atari Collection 1”: This game will launch, play the opening videos, and then exit back to the game list. Log mentioned segmentation fault.
- “Hot Wheels Turbo Racing”: This game will also launch, play the opening videos, and then get stuck at a black screen indefinitely.
Background: I’m new to the Raspberry Pi/RetroPie and I have limited knowledge of Linux usage and RetroPie’s file/folder system, but I’m at least familiar with emulation.
Troubleshooting: I haven’t taken many troubleshooting steps aside from trying different versions of the same ROMs, as I’m not sure where to start. Most of the default configurations remain the same. Each copy of The Atari Collection 1 I’ve tried fails (Arcade’s Greatest Hits - The Atari Collection 2 works, though!).
Specs, Logs, etc.:
Pi Model: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+
Power Supply: CanaKit 5V 2.5A Raspberry Pi 3 B+ Power Supply / Adapter
RetroPie Version: 4.5.1
Built From: Pre-made SD image on RetroPie website (retropie-4.5.1-rpi2_rpi3.img)
USB Devices connected: None
Controller used: Official PS3 controller connected via bluetooth
Runcommand.log: https://pastebin.com/CTFS0sQ9
Emulator: lr-pcsx-rearmed
ROM format: CUE/BIN
BIOS: SCPH1001.bin (also tried SCPH101.bin) -
I get the same crash with the Atari Collection - I wonder if it's not a bad dump, though the copy seems to match the Redump site checksums.

@mitu Glad to know I'm not the only one having the issue with Arcade's Greatest Hits - The Atari Collection 1. The fact that both of these games play properly on ePSXe, using the same BIOS (SCPH1001.bin) and ROM files, leads me to believe that it's an issue with lr-pcsx-rearmed. I suppose, worst case scenario, I could try The Atari Collection 1 on SNES and Hot Wheels Turbo Racing on N64 if myself or anyone else can't figure out the issue on PSX.
