inputconfiguration.sh not found

  • Pi 3 Model B
    Power Supply used: 2.5A
    RetroPie Version 4.5.1 (Raspbian GNU/Linux 8.0 Jessie)
Built From: Official image but it's been a long time
USB Devices connected: keyboard, 2 usb controllers (joystick+buttons+encoder)
Controller used: USB encoder is "2008 Toodles Cthulhu Multi"
Error messages received: inputconfiguration.sh not found

I backed up my image which was working perfectly on another Pi with the RetroFlag Sega Genesis pads. Copied that image to a new SD card, put in another Pi. Each time I boot up, ES asks me to set my configuration. I have normal control in the menus, but once I load a game I lose controls and see the message that my controller is not configured. I can kill the ROM with the keyboard, but back in ES my joystick has now lost control and I have to just F4 and restart ES again. I also can't page up in the terminal to see the error messages, which could be a separate issue. I cleared up disk space in case it just didn't have room to write config files. I also disabled access to the RGUI during a game and forgot what file to change to get that working again. I'm wondering if my core over rides are somehow involved...

@benjaminjay The input configuration scripts should be in /opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/scripts.
Re-install the emulationstation package and see if the scripts folder and its contents are created.

  • @mitu There was no directory "scripts" in /supplementary/emulationstation
    Tried installing from setup script
    "Could not successfully install EmulationStation
    (home/pi/Retropie-Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation/resources not found)"

Raspbian Jessie isn't supported anymore. You'd probably be better off starting with a fresh image based on stretch.

  • @herb_fargus Ok I have a custom theme (merged my mame and fba roms into the arcade folder, custom bezels and game collections, etc) I'm connected with SSH and downloading my roms now, what other directories should I download from my Pi so I don't lose anything when updating to Stretch?

Backup the ROMs and BIOS folders, the \\retropie\configs\ folder - the emulationstation folder contains your collections and ES settings/own themes`. Here's a topic discussing this in detail - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/16866/.
