@mitu Well that was really dumb from me. I was literally trying for about 2 months to make this work and didn't even think of using the button. Thank you so much for the help you really saved me a lot of troubles even if it were such an obvious and easy fix, I appreciate your time!

@windg Not (yet). On the RPI (and probably other embedded) platforms we install a patched SDL2 library, but not on PC - where we use the distro's version of SDL2.
When the SDL2 library shipped by RetroPie will be upgraded we'll make sure to accomodate the changes done in upstream SDL2. For reference, see the discussions on this RetroPie issue.

@mitu, also a BIG thanks. I recently installed two systems with Xubuntu 22.04.1 and RetroPie. Same issue as described. First time it took me about an hour to locate this post which solved the problem. The last system I had this posting ready and after the first error message (exactly stating the parameters I needed) I fixed it.

Backup the ROMs and BIOS folders, the \\retropie\configs\ folder - the emulationstation folder contains your collections and ES settings/own themes`. Here's a topic discussing this in detail - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/16866/.

@djinnocide Thank you for your help. I tried to do a reset of the configuration, and now it works. But I had to configure every emulator for the Fightstick, one by one to make them to work.
Maybe it can be the new version of RetroArch (I noticed there's a new graphical interface). In the older version the configuration it was automated for all the emulators (maybe also in this new version, in different way).
Now it need some work to configure the keys and find the correct mapping but it's ok.

      See you.

I'm not sure if bumping is allowed after a day of no replies when it says "No bumping" but I still have this problem and haven't fixed it and help would really really be appreciated unless no one knows how to fix it :P

I will try a fresh install tomorrow but something in me says it's a 4.0.2 issue... The beta I ran work perfectly on all consoles I put on there with just installing gamecon (which in v4 automatically installs db9 drivers directly if i'm correct?) and this command 'sudo sh -c 'echo "gamecon_gpio_rpi" >> /etc/modules && echo "options gamecon_gpio_rpi map=0,0,2,0,0,0" > /etc/modprobe.d/gamecon.conf && reboot'' which then was enough to setup the controller on the next boot and play on all mentioned consoles

I had a similar thing happen, but with 32x. I deleted the retropie config file for 32x, uninstalled the emulator from retripie set up, and uninstalled retro arch. Then I reinstalled retroarch and the emulator and all is well. You may have to reconfigure retroarch settings
