So I was curious, if you call omxplayer before a ROM, does it play until completion and only then call the ROM and retroarch? I was pondering the best way to play Deus Ex Machina for the Spectrum (the game came with a cassette tape you play while the game is running, which has been dumped as an mp3 online).

Now I could play the MP3 from my phone or another device and play the game that way. Nothing wrong with that solution and it's arguably most like the original process.

But I was thinking if I could run the MP3 using runcommand before and at the end of the game to use omxplayer to play in the background during retroarch. Would this work?

Are you sure this works for an emulator, without a microphone ?

@mitu Yeah the original process of the game is there's a key you hit to start when the audio track prompts you to, so the game and the audio track are sync'd up. I'm not 100% sure but I doubt the spectrum ever had a microphone add on.
