Pi Model or other hardware: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B
      Power Supply used: Canakit DCAR-RSP-3A5C-E
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.5.1
Built From: Built from ontop of Raspbian Buster with Desktop
      USB Devices connected: Wireless Mouse
      Controller used: PS3 Controller
      Error messages received: Not found
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): Not found
      Emulator: Any emulator
Guide used: ETA Prime's Guide on installing RetroPie on Raspberry Pi 4

RetroPie detects my ROMs and scrapes it from the database, yet when I try to load these ROMS it asks me for settings so I choose 1920x1080 for my display and have tried every emulator but it goes to a black screen and then back to the game menu. Any help?

@RGCTech The best solution would be to switch to a Raspberry 3B+ for now. Or is there any reason for hurry?

We don't support this configuration - ask the author of the guide for help.
RetroPie for the Pi4 is still a work in progress, so there's no support for things that are not yet implemented. If you'd like to try it out the development version, then use the Manual Installation instructions.

Hi I have tried the manual installation, it did not come up with a development version, it appeared as the same thing.

@RGCTech As I said, support for the Pi4 is ongoing and some bits might not work or function as they were on the previous PI models.

Try leaving aside the resolution change, since it's not currently not added to runcommand on the PI4. Use the native display resolution - which you can set it manually to 1080p if it's not automatically detected by using raspi-config from the RetroPie menu.
