Raspberry Pi 4

I heard from an article
rom site link removed
.That the retropie team is currently testing out a development build for the pi 4. Is that information correct? Would be exciting if t is. I will also take this time to thank the team for their hard work, considering they are doing this without being payed

Please, no links to ROM sites - remove the link please.
EDIT: I removed the link, please try to follow the forum rules next time you post.

Support for the PI4 is ongoing, there's no official release yet. You can install using the manual method over a Raspbian Buster Lite image.

@mitu that was to a forum, taking it down is kinda petty but what ever, here's a redit link to the actual source

@ravensm it's not petty, it's against the forum rules to post links to sites that have ROMs for download.

@ravensm to make things simple and for anyone who reads this, looking for Pi4 images, as this has been the main question the past year...
Development (test) builds have been released for a while and the only legit place to download them is the weekly build page here:
https://files.retropie.org.uk/images/weekly/
Anything else is risky, probably illegal and dangerous.
The simple answer to why there's no official/supported release yet has not much to do with RetroPie itself but with new GPU drivers that are still being developed. With the test builds, 2D stuff will work fine, 3D will perform much lower than it actually can, before the graphics drivers get released (with GLES 3 support). The reason is stated below by BuZz:
"We are not waiting on drivers for the release and never were. It's just a lot of work getting everything ready and tested."
-
@matchaman but that should mean that newest Raspian release from 2020-02-05 with new MESA driver with OPENGL ES 3.1 support will be the gamechanger?
Or is still anything else left for adequate 3D emulation/gaming?
-
@matchaman With that said, I do find that the current weekly dev built has superior performance to the RPi3b+, even without the mesa drivers. And this also goes for 3D in my experience. I have to admit I haven't made any benchmarks myself, but I play many N64 games without issue on the Pi4 dev builts.
It will be intersting to see what difference the drivers will actually make. I'm a bit hesitant to get my hopes up for a big leap in performance.
Either way, for Pi4 users the dev builds are pretty damn good. It's been my daily driver for a month or so now. And I've been playing many different platforms on it, although mostly 2D ones.

@matchaman thank you been looking for that official image for 2 days haha nice one bro

You are welcome. It's official but not stable. It's still unsupported in the forums so there could be hiccups here and there or even emulators not working at all.
