Retropie Daphne Arcade Joystick Issues, How to Remap
-
Pi Model or other hardware: 3 B+
RetroPie Version Used:4.5.12
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: 128 GB Flash Drive, USB Keyboard,
Controller used: Arcade Buttons and 2 joysticksI recently got a game to work on Daphne Emulator and now am having issues getting the joysticks to work properly. I've searched the forums for solution but I don't find a clear solution that seems to work for me. When I load the game, my joystick up and down are reversed and my left and right doesn't seem to work. If I repeatedly tap left or right, it will move a little bit at a time. It seems like in some ways it recognizes left and right but it's not seeing properly.
I've changed the dapinput.ini file and changed the settings to try to figure out what Left and Right is and nothing works. I've done the input test left/right register as -32767/32767 and up/down register as -32767/32767. My controls work fine in every other emulator so I don't want to go into a config file that would affect multiple emulators. If anyone has a suggestion, it would be much appreciated. The only issue is my arcade joystick.

Try re-configuring your input in EmulationStation, this should generate a Daphne input configuration file based on your mapping.

@mitu where would this file be located once this is done?
-
Should be in
configs/daphne/dapinput.ini

@mitu Oh, yes that file. I tried that but no luck. I remapped and got the same result. Although up and down are reversed, they work just fine but it won't read left and right. Daphne is such a pain to get going. I've done the jstest and see the stick is axis 0 and axis 1 and return a pos/neg 32767 on each axis.
I don't have any issues with any other emulator I have games for (Fba, Mame, PS1, Sega Genesis, Nes, SNES ,PC Engine). I can't understand what the issue is with Daphne and the axis mapping.
