      Raspberry pi 3b
retropie version: 4.5.1 (Installed using the image file from Retropie website)
      controllers: 8bit do SF30
      Emulator : lr-mame2003

I've searched the forum but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

I just played Battletoads arcade on lr-mame2003, game runs well but when I try to save it says "Core does not support savestates". So I tried another game, Sunset Riders, using the same emulator - lr-mame2003. I was able to make a save state and load.

I've double check and both game run the same emulator. In fact, all the arcade games use the same emulator as lr-mame2003 is set as default. Why can't I save on Battletoads, but I can save on Sunset Riders, TMNT arcade, The Simpsons arcade and Metal slug games?

Because save states are driver/board/game dependent - some drivers implement it, some don't. It's not a bug, but a technical limitation of Mame2003. MAME 2003 supports save states for many, but not all games.

Thanks, I did not know that ^^
You got any tip to make it work? Should I try different emulators for this game or it prob won't matter?

Try a different emulator - lr-mame2010 may support save states for this driver.
