Emulator: lr-pcsx-rearmed and PCSX-ReARMedconfig.txt (apologies if I've done this part wrong)
<iframe src="https://pastebin.com/embed_iframe/gY0dQ1XW" style="border:none;width:100%"></iframe>This all may be related or not. I updated my RetroPie using the built in setup script over the weekend and started receiving the above error at the start of every game. Most games will play with sound with no problem (except the one mentioned below). Not sure what I did wrong in the update process.
One game that does not is Final Fantasy Origins for PSX. I have used various sources including ripping the game myself. Final Fantasy II seems to play just fine, Final Fantasy I starts ok, then when the full motion video appears the screen becomes distorted
After starting FFI there are sound effects but no background music (there is background during the video sequence). When I switch from STEREO to MONO in the game's menu, the game crashes.
I've tried a couple emulators and attempted to force sound via HDMI using the above mentioned guide. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or if this is just an issue with this game.
Thanks,
fordpickup

Can you try resetting the RetroArch's settings ?
- look in the
\\retropie\configs\psx
folder, renameretroarch.cfg
and then re-install thelr-pcsx-rearmed
emulator. - if the above doesn't work, try looking in
\\retropie\configs\all
and rename theretroarch.cfg
file, then copy over theretroarch.cfg.rp-dist
, from the same folder, asretroarch.cfg
.
- look in the

@mitu I'll give this a try and report back. Thanks for the help!

@mitu I started with step 1 then realized I kept getting a bios error on start up. I added the bios to the PSX and it started right up. Thanks so much for your help, I greatly appreciate it.
(It didn't solve the weird sound error notification, but hey if it works it works!)

I think that sound/alsa error comes from EmulationStation, not fro the emulator. Use the EmulationStation menu and play with the Sound settings - Audio Card/Device are the ones that produce this error. Most likely you can change the Audio Card from Default to something else and the error will go away.
