Black screen on different TV
-
I have my Pi 4 set up on my 4k TV in my living room but I want to move it to my bedroom the tv is a 1080p from 2014. When I turn it on the screen is black till the tv doesn't think there is anything connected. I am using the Pi4 development build (could be the reason) but is there a way to get it to work for other tv's cause I may wanna bring my Pi to a friend's house.

Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
What TV make/model are you connecting to the PI ? -
@mitu it's a Samsung J4500 4 Series
And I am running on the pi4 development build.

According to Samsung's specs, it's not a 1080p TV, but supports the 1366 x 768 resolution. Since it seems it's not automatically detected and configured, try settings the resolution in the
config.txt
file on the sdcard (you can edit it from Windows):hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=39

Tired that..... no luck
Im starting to think its the TV cause i tried it on my desktop monitor and it works fine

The new PI4 model has a different way of querying the TV for resolution than previous models. This information the TV is sending (EDID) might be inaccurate and the PI cannot find a proper video mode.
I've seen a few topics with similar problems on the RPI forums (here or here), so it's an issue that's TV dependent and a bit difficult to diagnose.Working with
tvservice
might get you an usable video mode to show on the TV, but you'll need a SSH connection and some command line knowledge to accomplish it. -
I have the same issue. My setup is an LG TV 24LB451B running RP on a RP4. My Pi works well with my other two Samsung TVs except with the LG. I tried editing the config.txt different ways but was only able to boot, get to the game, but not play any of them. The screen would go to no signal before the game loaded. Any suggestions?

@ElRafilla It's not exactly the same issue - the poster didn't have any video output, you seem to have it working until launching a game. Open a new topic and add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
