Go do I get permission to edit photos on a es theme ?
-
@bigbellyman you can copy your edited file somewhere that you have permission, and then do a
sudo cp
to the theme location. you should probably quit emulation station first. -
It actually works without quitting ES. Copy the theme folder from
/etc/emulationstation/themes
to/home/pi/.emulationstation/themes
(the latter folder might not exist, just create it). You can then edit the theme where you copied - you should give it a different name (rename the theme folder). -

Good to know - thanks!
-
@mitu yea I tried that . How do I load the theme from that location . I must be doing something wrong
-
@bigbellyman What's the name of the folder you created in
$HOME/.emulationstation/themes
with the new theme ? The name of the folder is used by EmulationStation as the theme name. -
@mitu /home/pi/ .emulationstation/themes/joshstheme
-
@bigbellyman This looks ok - aren't you able to choose the theme from the EmulationStation list of themes ?
-
@mitu I cant choose it from list of themes . in the ui settings/theme set menu . nor is it available on es themes through option menu ? I must be doing something wrong
-
@bigbellyman Does your theme folder contains all the files from the original theme - including the
theme.xml
file ? -
@mitu yes it does at the last file in the directory
-
@bigbellyman I’ll start from the beginning see if it makes a difference
-
@bigbellyman worked like a dream . I approached it slightly different. Copied the theme I wanted to edit to my pc and edited it all there and then copied it over no problems.
