Resurrecting old topic (launching directly from carousel)
-
Everything I have looked for about this is 2 years or older. I was curious if there was a possibility that this could be done now with the latest version? Having to go into a submenu is esthetically painful. I would like to be able to potentially setup the same direct launch for Moonlight and Steam Link.

@spotopolis No, launching from the carousel is still not part of EmulationStation.

I'm curious. Is there a workaround using a custom collection or a system folder with a "auto-run" configuration file? It's not straight-forward, but it may be possible. I really don't know.

I would think you could easily use the 'All Games' collection and then set ES to start immediately in that list. Then you'd basically have it.

The OP said " setup the same direct launch for Moonlight and Steam Link."
How is that the same thing? I was thinking you'd need ES to display a "system" called "Moonlight" and then have one "game" that automatically ran when it was listed. Now that I think about it, my idea probably wouldn't work without a second button press in current ES. ....unless you could list the app as "system" in ES and symlink "the directory" to a file that launched the desired app. I'm not sure about the limitations of symlinks in Linux though.

I would definitely like to see this option come to EmulationStation, since I have several items I would want to move out of ports into their own separate items on the carousel.
