Where did this menu come from?

I reset my PS1 games menu screen to DEFAULTS and it went from THIS
...
Now requiring me to hit Ctrl-start twice to exit games...It's because you used 'Reset Configuration' in RetroArch, it has overwritten the RetroPie RetroArch's configuration and set the RetroArch defaults - Ozone as menu driver (the 'menu'), press twice to quit (the default in RetroArch) and probably many others.

You're asking for help regarding RetroPie, so I don't think there's any doubt here.

Which emulator ? If it's not a RetroArch emulator, resetting does something else.

If you like it more than the default ('RGUI'), you can keep it. You can change the menu driver from the RetroArch settings (Drivers/Menu I think). I don't use it, so I don't know if it has any advantages over RGUI.

How did you turn it on in the first place ? Are you referring to EmulationStation Kiosk UI mode or the RetroArch's kiosk mode ?

Alright, let me start from the top.
#1. I was screwing around with options and settings in the Green Quick Menu on the default Playstation emulator.
When I couldn't remember the original settings, I set it default and go that sleeker, grey and blue design from the second picture and just wanted to go back to green Quick Menu with the default settings.I tried to repeated my actions in MAME2003, but resetting to default kept it green.
#2. Forgive me for not knowing what the menu is called. It's where you initially select your system and which rom to run.
When hitting start, there used to be a set of options, and I think I set it to Kiosk mode or something since now when I hit start all I get it shut down and sound.
I could post a picture if need be, and I apologize for my ignorance on this subject. -

As I said in the previous reply - you can do so from the RetroArch's (new) menu.
If you wish to go back to RetroPie's default, then remove theretroarch.cfgfile from/opt/retropie/configs/psxand re-install thelr-pcsx-rearmedemulator to have the configuration file re-created with RetroPie's defaults. Of course, if you're using the Kid UI mode, you might not have access to the RetroPie-Setup script, but read on.I tried to repeated my actions in MAME2003, but resetting to default kept it green.
You probably have a core override from before the reset that kept the default (RGUI) menu interface.We don't recommend using either Reset or Save Configuration, since it will break the RetroPie's defaults. You can change most of the RetroArch's options using the Configuration Editor.
Of course, if you know what you're doing (i.e. you have some familiarity with RetroArch and its configuration), you're free to change anything - but you'll have to manage the configuration and don't rely on RetroPie's settings.#2. The front-end is called EmulationStation, that's the EmulationStation menu. When you switch to the Kid UI mode, you're given a warning telling you how to switch back to the Full UI mode - you must have glossed over that information and just pressed ok. If you would have paid attention, you'd have noticed that you need to perform the Konami code with your gamepad to switch back. More details in the Docs.

Yea, I was trying to figure out what Windowed Mode actually was while playing and was afraid screwing with it might mess with performance when all I was trying to do was fix the aspect ratio so that the game would be full screen.. but keep the 4:3 without the horizontal bars on the top and bottom.
When I figured it out, I wanted to set the window back to default just in case it might cause issues.
(What does window mode do in this situation, I saw no real difference)Oddly, when I got the "New" menu, it's asking for a PS1 Bios and that games would run better with it.
I have the bios installed since I setup the system, and the games seem to be running fine so I don't know what it's asking for.
SCPH1001.BINAs for kid/kiosk mode... it's a stupid story.
When I was trying to figure out what it was, I dropped the controller beneath my chair and fumbled to get it out. So, I missed everything by being a complete idiot trying to find my controller.
I've been trying to figure out what happened ever since, and that was the only conclusion I could come up with since it was the last option I had looked at before dropping the controller.
(and yes, I know this sounds stupid and absurd.. but stupid things happen)It's working perfectly now!

No surprise here, since resetting the configuration will change the folder where RetroArch looks for BIOS files - it's no longer

Yep, so I'll need to fix the pathway.Thank you again, I always feel like such an amateur when I'm working with the RetroPi, but always glad to learn new things and further my knowledge.
It's just feels rather embarrassing at times, but I enjoy learning from my mistakes in these cases.
Oh, it had me use the analog stick to input the Konami Code, not the D-pad, but it worked perfectly. Thank you!

Okay, don't mind reply to me I'm sick and tired of retropie, this thing is garbage !
I passed a ton of time configuring everything with the cfg / xml files etc. And suddenly pouf everything breaks like SHIT because you accidently turn one option in the menus !!!I'm done with it, I quit !!!!

I'm just a little bit annoyed that retropie is the only versatile tool there is to do as much as I want (which is configure everything) but that its soooooo unorganized (it reminds me of Blender ah ah, wonderfull tool too but too messy for my taste)I stopped trying to configure retropie, I'm tired to have to search in the doc for every little thing because nothing make sense. Even the folder tree is a nightmare -_-.
