@sleve_mcdichael That worked! If I hold down select, now any of the quick menu hotkeys open the menu. Hey, I can go with that! Cool, then that's problem solved!

@mitu said in Quick menu access in fbneo:

How can I restore access to the quick menu?

Remove the override from the /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config.

Thank you! Would that be the line "input_player1_select = "rshift"" in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg? That seemed to do the trick.

And secondly, I really liked the button config utility in Mame. Is there any more intuitive way to map the buttons in fbneo than the retroarch menu?

      No.

      Bummer.

No key is assigned to open the in-game menu (I acidentally removed the TAB key assignement and left it unassigned)

@sleve_mcdichael Thanks for your reply. I will look again in file manager. I am pretty sure the system rom folders were empty but will confirm and delete if they are in there.

(Side note to the forum: Sorry for not saying it sooner, but I’m running retropie on a Pi 3b plus and just reinstalled retropie. No change to the tab not working in-game since I boneheadedly unassigned it even with the freshy).

@Floob @dankcushions Thank you. I just had som eoveride of menu_driver in the retroarch.cfg from some systems folder so i still had rgui for some emulations. but know i have matched everything against the parent retroarch.cfg menu_driver and it works.

@BrtsZ said in Retroarch Quick Menu Inconsistency Between Emulators:

I'm using a rPi 4b with retropie version 4.6.7 on an old CRT TV. Because certain menus can be challenging/impossible to read in Retroarch with the default theme (XMB I think?), I've changed the theme style to RGUI, as it's large, clear, and legible with my limited resolution.

RGUI is the default in retropie. did you delete any .cfg files? please fill out https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first?

but then in the following emulators it appears as the default that I can't read (XMB I think?):
      -SNES (lr-snes9x)
      -NES (lr-fceumm)

again, suspect you've deleted or messed with .cfg files. please provide a verbose log for these, as per my above link.

@windg Yeah, sorry for my rudeness. I dropped the thing and I feel better now :)
I'm just a little bit annoyed that retropie is the only versatile tool there is to do as much as I want (which is configure everything) but that its soooooo unorganized (it reminds me of Blender ah ah, wonderfull tool too but too messy for my taste)

I stopped trying to configure retropie, I'm tired to have to search in the doc for every little thing because nothing make sense. Even the folder tree is a nightmare -_-.

Well sorry again, I won't polute this forum any longer. Cheers.

All sorted guys. I have found that editing the actually config file for the roms is an easier approach for some reason. Thank you for your help.

@Maynard your question indicates that you didn't map the core specific button configs usinf the core input remapping method.

Reset the changes you made and remap using that method. I think it'll make you happy. ;-)
