      It freezes when reaching the command line in V4.5. When i tried the latest image of retropie, it freezes at the keyboard configuration but only after i managed to set a few keys (up,down,left etc. before freezing but never completing)

      in both scenarios I'm greeted with the following error

      Unhandled fault: alignment exception (0x011) at 0x00031f8d
      pgd = cb238000
      [00031f8d] *pgd=0d107831, *pte=00000000, *ppte=00000000
      Bus error

      had to type the error by hand since it freezes in command line, hopefully i didn't mistype. TLDR, I'm perplexed by the error, can't get it working. I think it should be easier than this. Someone save me lols

        Are you sure you're using the proper image for your model - i.e. the Pi 0/1 image ?
        Is the system working fine you use the Raspbian image from https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ ?

          Yup! I downloaded from this source and it froze at the keyboard config. Tried past versions from 4.2 up but nothing worked as well.
          Using official rpi charger so it should not be a power issue.
          SD card that i'm using. I tested it by flashing the rpi4 version and used it on my rpi4. It managed smooth gameplay so I think the sd card is functional too.

          What does the error message mean tho? Is it a hardware issue? Should I contact the my vendor?

          Thanks Btw for the quick response, rly appreciate it!

            It means the CPU tried to execute a faulty instructions. Try with the Raspbian image and if you get the same error, then you try to return the Pi.

              Just tried raspbian image, it seems to be working fine with raspbian, able to surf the net, play videos and all. Does this mean the rpi is not faulty?

                Yes, if you don't get a crash it looks fine. You might want to try a manual install over the Raspbian image, make sure you disable the desktop auto-login first - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Manual-Installation/.
