Luminous Theme: A light alternative to Carbon
-
@hooperre I don't know what all the new changes are. ES has a lot of commits and I can't keep up. Video has been around a long time. Adding video shouldn't be hard. I just didn't know anyone used this theme.

Haha oh I love Luminous, man! I was going to offer to try to do it myself because it's my main theme. I didn't think I could do it justice. Also, sorry I think I troubled you with the same question on the Carbon-light theme and forgot now that I'm looking. Oops.

Is the download still around somewhere? I'm working on a complete modular theme proof of concept based on carbon (because it already has 3 different versions) and it would be great if i could use this for an easy setup to test a color modul without having to do much work on my own. :)
-
if this one has been tested out it looks worthy of wide release. apologies if it has, i will have to go back and look...
-
@ectoone: I'm doing something similar, but I'm starting from scratch. I have a basic base theme, with different skins that you can choose that change the look of the theme while leaving the basic layout the same. I'm about 80% done, so I should have something to show people by tonight/tomorrow.

Well shit, I guess we are all working on our own versions of a modular theme, just add me to the list

LOL, that's awesome.
I just combined the three available carbon versions (and the layout I use for my personal theme), the color options from the nometa/centered ones, and just a basic version of a vertical and horizontal carousel.
I still need to figure out some layout issues from the centered versions, but as of right now I can simply choose whatever carousel, color and layout I want within a config.xml by un-/commenting lines. But I had in mind to try using @jdrassa variables for that, yet idk in which way to do that because I think that would overcomplicate things.Oh, BTW, I don't need this theme anymore. I just color inverted the carbon background just to see how a white version would look.

I had thought about using variables, but it cuts down on the number of ES versions that will be able to use the theme (there are no fallbacks, and older versions will just break). Also, I've not used the variable before and I'd rather get the theme done quickly than spend ages learning something new.
I like your idea of a config.xml file, but thinking about how mine is set up, it wouldn't work for me. Each of my "skins" is a self contained folder with font, artwork and xml. You just choose a folder name in the main theme.xml to change skin.
@lilbud: It's a race :D

I'm adding support for a whole load of modular features, including different system view layouts.
-
Like i said, it was just a test for me what's possible to do nowadays.
Oh @mattrixk you will notice that the color tag is working on images within the carousel. And i think that carbon looks really nice with those changes. -
@ectoone, @lilbud Very nice guys, they look great. It looks like we've gone in slightly different directions. You seem to be focusing on modular layouts, so you can change how all the data and images are physically laid out, whereas I'm focused solely on changing the look of the Views, while leaving the layouts the same. Here's a small example of the System View screen. The Skins shown aren't complete, and I have some other ideas that I haven't started yet.
For some of them you'll be able to change the colour of the background and the border, but for others the colour is pretty much set.
You might also notice some of the logos in the top left aren't too clear (white logo text on a white background), so I'll need to make sure all logos used have at least some border. All Logos and Console images were taken from ScreenScraper.fr, and I'll credits in the readme file.

@rookervik could you update luminous with custom collections? There is not much work to do since Carbon allready has the icons
-
@sergioad I can add it to my list of things to do. It shouldn't take too long.
-
@rookervik thanks friend
-
@Rookervik I got your back completely covered, I added the auto collections and ALSO I updated the Luminous' scroll sound to match its source of inspiration (Carbon) wich also was the source of the Luminous' sounds
-
@Rookervik if you want I can send it to you since I have not a PC from wich make the pull request
-
But still I have mh phone so I can upload it to my Google drive and send you the link
-
@sergioad Let's see. Could you send me the files and I will have them added to luminous? I'll also add your name to the credits.
-
@rookervik of course, I Will senda otro yo you this dame day
