Mortal Kombat controls
-
I'm having some MK control issues but I want to ask this first, from people that have their gameplay working. In Mortal Kombat, does holding the block button have your character hold their block on the screen? (or does it block and then drop the block as you're holding the button)
As you might guess the latter is what I'm seeing, just want to make sure what is expected.

@szude I've seen that when using another button but there was a permanent block also.
Which emulator?
On lr-mame2003, with rev 1/2 the mapping is not great on my snes pads but block is on Y afair.
I'm using lr-mame2010 on my rpi4. Block is left shoulder.
Which controller? Make sure you don't have some controller "turbo" auto repeat enabled also (eg. With ibuffalo)

If using keyboard mapped controller. Which keys? Make sure they don't conflict with any retroarch default hotkeys.

Check the game-specific input map in the Retroarch menu. I think there's a Block 1 and a Block 2. Try each of them.

Depending on your lr-mame, it could be Button 5 / Button 6. On my 2010 Button 5 works correctly while Button 6 does the "quick block".
-
@TonyXL yeah that sounds right. Just wanted to confirm your explanation is better than mine :-)

Oh, that's very interesting all around, people.
Yes, I'm using a keyboard mapped controller. I'm using the retropad inputs through retroarch, mame2003.
My other experiment I had already done was figuring out if any other games had "repeat/hold" problems. I played GIJoe and holding the button made it continual fire. So I was leaning towards it being game specific, but couldn't figure out how. I will try swapping some buttons and see if that works.

Hey, thanks all. I changed this around as suggested and it worked.
Button 5 is real block and 6 is "quick block".
