@AdamBeGood Would my checksums help?
I was checking against your sums yesterday - from higher up in the thread. I can't find them, I am not sure what I'm doing wrong. I haven't tried today. Irritatingly, I have to produce a spreadsheet for work so I can't trawl through BIOS right now.
-
@AdamBeGood I completely forgot I'd already put them up.
Well I'm sure we'll figure out the problem eventually. To be honest I'm starting to think I spend more time tinkering on my pi than actually playing it ^^ -

@Folly Hope duty goes well. Here is a verbose log: https://pastebin.com/kJz5Grum

Beware, there are different checksum :
sha1sum
md5sum
crc32
etc -

Yep, initially installed from binary and then when it was going belly up I tried to install from Source.

Looks like all your filenames are bad !
-
@AdamBeGood Yeah it's a md5sum you need to be looking for.
Now I'm wondering if I gave you the right sums...
Sorry ^^

Sorry ^^
It's my fault for not pursuing this! At this point, my .roms are the same as yours that you listed yesterday apart from font.rom. Yamaha files are different.
@Folly How do you mean filenames are bad?

Forget what I said about the filenames.
Edit : I have the same sort of log though.
Can't help you now.

@AdamBeGood Your font.rom is different? Are you getting any japanese text in, say, Popful Mail?

It might be just as likely to be the font.bmp, but yep I do get text in text boxes in that game. That is one thing my PC98 can do.
Edit: Yep, it's the font.bmp file. I just deleted all my BIOS, loaded the game. No text. Just copied over font.bmp, there is text. There is a text.bmp file in one of the RetroPie BIOS zips I think.
-
@AdamBeGood Some games have text, you might have been lucky.
All the games that depend on the FONT.ROM to output text have been broken on my end.
When you're free any chance you could check a couple for me?
I've looked into the font.bmp, it looks like it's an anex86 bios. -

I've looked into the font.bmp, it looks like it's an anex86 bios. But it has to be that FONT.BMP on this game! When it wasn't there, there was no text. When I put it in to the folder there was text. There was never a FONT.ROM to make the difference.
Have you tried putting it into the BIOS folder just to see?
-
I'm looking into it now.
Can you share the md5sum of that file please? -

@AdamBeGood My file is not a match.
However, I'm just wondering - are you running the game from floppies or from a hard disk? -

My whole problem is the hard disk thing. Floppies!
