      Hi guys,

      hope to get help here.
My favourite arcade game 1942 runs in perfect speed on an 1024x768 7inch display connected via HDMI on a Pi2.
Then I bought a fullhd LCD Monitor and connected a Pi4 via DVI.
The emulation (lr-fbneo) was so fast that I couldn't play the game.
I thought it was a Pi4 problem to be too fast, but it's the same issue with a Pi2 :-(

So it seems to be a problem with the monitor/display.
I searched the web and found some ideas but nothing helped.

Are you able to play 1942 connected to a fullhd monitor on a Pi2/Pi4 and normal speed?

I would be very happy to get help here - so many nights looking for a solution ...

Many thanks for any link, etc.!

      Uwe

        DVI

i believe the problem here is that you lost audio output, video sync to audio in FBNeo (and probably many other emulators actually), so without audio FBNeo will basically run in fast-forward mode.

Sorry, only searched the forum, didn't see the system specs template. Makes sense.

            Pi Model or other hardware: Pi2 B, Pi4 1GB,
Power Supply used: Original Raspi Foundation
            RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): retropi-buster 4.6 (for Pi2 / Pi4)
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website): retropie-buster-4.6-rpi4.img.gz, retropie-buster-4.6-rpi2_rpi3.img.gz
USB Devices connected: USB Joystick, Arcade Button Set / Zerodelay board
            Controller used: see above
            Error messages received: none
            Verbose log (if relevant): none
Guide used: (Mention if you followed a guide)
File: (File with issue - with FULL path) 1942.zip in roms/arcade
            Emulator: lr-fbneo
Attachment of config files: (PLEASE USE PASTEBIN.COM FOR LARGE LOGS)
            How to replicate the problem:
If you connect a FullHD monitor either with a PI2 or Pi4 and start the rom via arcade / lr-fbneo, the gameplay is too fast to survive.
I had connected the same version to a small 7" LCD with 1024x600 and HDMI and the game speed is normal.
So I suppose it's an issue with the connected monitor not the Pi itself.

@barbudreadmon: So do you have a suggestion to get around this? I have sound via 3.5mm jack enabled.

Thanks for the hints so far!

            Uwe

Meaning you have sound in 1942 ?

@barbudreadmon Yes, of course. Sound is working!

Now i also checked all the Retroarch settings (Hockey +X) and compared them with the system that works in right speed. I also tried other lr-mame versions snd advmame and set exactly the resolution for the emulator. Not all worked but if they do - all too fast.
I don't see a way to slow it down.

Ok, it wasn't the issue i thought about then.

Maybe your screen has a high refresh rate and you are using vsync or something ? When enabling vsync, you ignore game's original refresh rate and run it at your screen refresh rate instead, meaning if you run a ~60Hz game on a 120Hz screen, it'll run at twice the speed.

Try playing around in Retroarch's Settings > Video > Synchronization menu, either by disabling vsync, or enabling the adaptive and vrr stuff

@barbudreadmon That doesn't work either. Thank your for the help.

But in the meantime I found a solution.
Not a direct answer to my question - so it doesn't work with lr-fbneo.

I found lr-mame in the experimental packages and this emulator emulates exactly the right speed!

Thanks for all the help here!
