      Hello

i ve now 3 Extra Buttons
Button for OnePlayer -> Mapped with START
Button for TwoPlayer -> Mapped with SELECT
Free Button -> Mapped as Hotkey
      (in Emulatorstation)

Problem, i cant play in NeoGeo (i think also in Mame) with
      2 Player.
the 2Player Button (SELECT) add coins.

Possible to configure my buttons like:
Button for OnePlayer -> OnePlayer Mode
Button for TwoPlayer -> TwoPlayer Mode
Free Button -> Add Coins / Hotkey

      Regard

@noxx2 Didn't you already posted this like 2 days ago ? Why create a new post - you should have replied to your previous one.

            (in Emulatorstation)

This all seems good in theory. Warning: I do not have buttons for an arcade setup like this so if what you have done appears to be a virtual "keyboard" then the following might not apply to you.

If what you have for controls is set up to look like 2 identical "virtual gamepads" then the following might help.
Start and Select on the same virtual "gamepad" are probably not going to do what you want if you truly want the "2 Player" button to be the one that brings the second player into the game.

Perhaps what you should have is this:
"1 Player button" = START on gamepad 1
"2 Player button" = START on gamepad 2
"Free Button" = Hotkey on gamepad 1

the 2Player Button (SELECT) add coins.

This is the default behavior when the button SELECT is pressed on the first gamepad controller. On my setup, when using MAME and a typical game, the second player is entirely controlled by a second gamepad. So you would need a second START button like mentioned above. Otherwise you might have to entirely remap your controls in the RetroArch GUI menu. (TAB on keyboard, HOTKEY + X on gamepad by default.)

Possible to configure my buttons like:
Button for OnePlayer -> OnePlayer Mode
Button for TwoPlayer -> TwoPlayer Mode
Free Button -> Add Coins / Hotkey

This scenario sounds very game dependent. Arcade games usually function with either dedicated coin slots and start button for each player, or a shared coin slot and dedicated start buttons. I've not seen specific buttons for 1 or 2 player "mode".

For consoles, usually a front menu screen is used to choose 1 or 2 player mode so it still wouldn't seem like a dedicated button would work that way. I could be wrong here but I just haven't personally seen things that work this way.

ok, if i use this config, how can i add a coin ? in this case i ve no select button.....

Sorry I was focusing on the START buttons only.
You are correct that you would also need to add either 1 or 2 "Coin" buttons with that configuration.

                Alternate Solution:
                "1 Player" = START on gamepad 1
                "2 Player" = START on gamepad 2
"Free Button" = SELECT on gamepad 1, and also HOTKEY

The only time this might be a problem is if some games require each player have their own COIN slot. (Such as TMNT, Simpsons, X-Men, Rampage, or similar type of arcade games)

thx. my config is now like this

                  "1 Player" = START on gamepad 1
                  "2 Player" = START on gamepad 2
"Free Button" = SELECT on gamepad 1, and also HOTKEY

unfortunately i cant play with two player in e.g. MetalSlug (neogeo). if i push
                  the 2-player button, nothing happens.....
1-Player Button is ok, ans my Free-Red-Button is now my Hotkey and Select/Coin Button.

I think someone with experience using the Xin-Mo control setup will need to jump in here since I don't have one of those.

Also posting the information listed here https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
will help make more sense of what else could be the problem.
