      @lostless Thanks.

      Swapped the connection between the USB boards, and that worked. Must not have been in parallel config.

      @lostless the number of pulses are just to tell the microcontroller (or computer) which coins you are putting in. So you can set a quarter for 5 and a dime for 4 and so on. So when you set up an electrical piggy bank. The computer can tell which coins you put in. I'm guessing I would have to put some type of resisiter for this to work which is beyond my present capabilities. I went ahead and bought one off of X Arcades site. They have one with the microcontroller and stuff hooked up so all you have to do is Jerry rig it to your buttons or just connect it straight to the USB encoder. So hope it all works when it comes in lol

      @top-specci So when you said "this is the solution" to @sleve_mcdichael 's suggestion to press the button "shortly", you actually meant it didn't work ? It was a bit misleading.

      Does it work if you plug a keyboard and press the "lshift" key ?

      @lolonois This is all great info! Now I just need to see if I have the skills to implement it all! But thank you so much for the help!

      And thanks! I'll be sure to add it to the "Projects and Themes"!

      Thanks again for the ideas! Script stuff is definitely over my head but this all at least gives me a jumping off point to know what i'm trying to do!

      Just a quick update, and maybe a helpful suggestion for others.

      I ended up hard-wiring button pairs in parallel and attaching them to the same port :

      Controller 1 (numbering according to the above diagram)
      J1_8 and J1_5 => left shoulder
      J1_9 and J1_4 => right shoulder
      J1_7 and J_11 => select
      J1_6 and J1_10 => start

      Controller 2
      J2_6 and J2_8 => select

      Thanks to everybody for help!

      I think the thread replies so far are missing the point of the issue...

      Or maybe I am. But I think and @warawara correct me if I am wrong, that you want to have a different button then the select act as the hotkey button.

      That or you do NOT want to select button to add coins.

      I have done both in my builds. I like the coin acceptor for both the retro feel and to help limit play with myself and my kid.

      Not to say it is the best solution but what I have done;
      I wired the coin acceptor as a button and in the retropie I set it to "Left trigger" (as I don't use that in any of my games)
      I then globally configure the emulators I use to use the left trigger instead of select for coin. It addresses 99% of the coin arcade games and there are a few custom deals that you have to work with. Player specific coin slot games are an example such as Simpsons where each player has a coin slot and it determines the character you play. For that I added a toggle switch that lets me "shift" the coin acceptor to the player I want to activate. But like I said, in most cases I'm fine leaving it on player 1.

      Select in this method is just select and a hot key. No coins are added when pressed. This is basically the same solution as @DougA wrote with a few minor changes in what button the coin acceptor is assigned to.

      For the other situation (IE independent hot key);
      I had a small momentary puss button that I added to a build as a button for player 1. So player 1 had 9 buttons; 6 action, start select and this extra button. In the emulation station input configuration I set the extra button as the hot key. I only pressed that extra button when I got to the last entry of setting a hotkey. So instead of pressing select and start to exit you would press what I labeled the FN button and start. The same applies for all the other functions at that point as well. FN + B = reset, FN + X = menu and so on.

      If we are way off base in what we are explaining, you will need to re-explain what you want to happen in your set up.

      Hi, thanks a lot to everybody for the answers! And my apologize to not being clear in my question.
      I have a panel with just one coin button. And more or less, a part games like vendetta, it works, even with other emulators. But of course I'd like to have a complete experience, so I'm trying to figure out a way without changing panel, if there is no solution I'll dig another hole, but is going to be a quite a mess, so I'd like to avoid it.
      I try to wire player2 coin to player1 coin. It works, everytime I press coin button I get 2 coins and with vendetta games I have another player ready to go. But with other emulators it's a mess, it's like pressing select button at the same time for both users and as example for PC Engine games I had lot's of problem, so I roll back.
      The only working way, without doing another hole, in my opinion, it's a combo buttons (hot-key), like Start Player 2 + A player 2 button = player 2 coin, something like that. I'm using XiMo interface, and reading around I did not find any useful instruction on how to do it. Hot-keys are only available for particular purpose as far as I understand.

      thanks again

      The problem I had was that I didn't know what the "Insert Coin" mapped to. I discovered (from Google) that it's the SELECT button. Once I knew this, I could edit the retroarch.cfg in the configs/FBA folder and added the following line: input_player1_select = "num5"

      Sorted.

      Thank you.

      PS: I also tried adding input_player2_select = "num6", but it looks like it only accepts P1 setting.

      First of all - I am not happy about the way everyone jumped in here - it wasn't clear from the first post whether it was for profit or not. There is no problem having a coin operated machine for personal use to get an authentic feel.

      There are some regulars who are getting a bit aggressive and it needs to stop. Sure it's frustrating here sometimes with the same questions over and over again, and having to ask people to read the forum rules but attacking is not acceptable. I don't care if you have been here for a month or a year - this stops now. The increase in use of bad language is also not appreciated - keep it clean.

      @veteranj your second to last post is totally unacceptable. Only because of some of the earlier replies are you avoiding a ban - but consider this a warning. That goes for others too. Personal attacks are not going to be accepted here.
