I had RetroPie installed for about a week now. I wanted to manage my roms easier so I installed the MATE desktop environment core. I managed my roms easy and rebooted. I currently have it configured so it boots to the command line with auto-login, and starts EmulationStation automatically.

The problem is, any games that I play are super slow and laggy (with the exception of draStic, those games run fine). Games like SNES, NES, GBA, GBC, etc.

I don't know why this is happening, but it bugs me. I did this a few times before and fixed it by re-installing RetroPie with PINN and updating packages. But I really don't want to reinstall it again, it's a pain to back up important files then re-install, then update, then transfer everything back again.

      How can I fix this?

@bio_hazard1282 i'm not clear how you are running retropie. are you exiting the descktop entirely and booting into emulationstation directly? please supply a verbose log as per https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first (please try with a NES game as they should run full speed under normal conditions)

            please also supply your /boot/config.txt

I guess that's PINN? It seems to install it's own image of RetroPie from https://sourceforge.net/projects/pinn/files/os/Retropie4/ which is Retropie 4.6 from 28th April 2020 according to the release_notes.txt there.

I'm asking because 3rd party images are not supported here, only the official ones from https://retropie.org.uk/download/, because we can't know if other ones were changed somehow which may be the cause of the problems in question.

I'd install RetroPie with normal NOOBS along with Raspberry Pi OS. But I can't get the RetroPie folder that I can paste in the 'os' folder.

It would be nice to install retropie with NOOBS, but it isn't an option.
