I am new at this and have been working on modifying an Arcade 1up machine. I bought a microSD card with everything preloaded. I can access the games and the menus, but none of the buttons work when I open a game. The hotkey also doesn't work. I have to turn off the system to get back to the menu screen. I have eight buttons configured Start, Select, A, B, X, Y, left shoulder, right shoulder, and a hotkey. I would great appreciate any suggestions so that I can enjoy the games of my childhood. Thanks.

@bertspiff i’m sorry, but we do not support third party images (rule 5) and preloaded systems break licenses

to get support (and fix your problem) please start from scratch with the official image: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/

My bad. Sorry about that and thank you for the guidance. I have reviewed the rules so that I don't make the same mistake again.
