Retropie/Odroid xu4 controllers configuration
-
Hello,
I'm pretty new to using emulators and purchased an odroid xu4 which uses emulationstation. I purchased a couple gamesir controllers with the system and have on and off issues with them. Of course, when I first started emulationstation it had me configure the controllers which I did following the steps from retropie documents. Upon doing so, the 1st player controller has worked perfectly on most game systems but for some reason didn't work for nintendo 64 games.
I managed to get the controller to work when I manually configured the controller for the nintendo 64 games, but then noticed I couldn't have both controllers working at the same time to play multiplayer. I went to the ports binding and configured the controllers there, allowing us to play multiplayer for super nintendo, but for nintendo 64 only the 2nd player controller works and even then only when both controllers are plugged in. Then, for some odd reason, neither controller was working on the nintendo 64 games.
I'm confused to begin with because I'm new to this stuff and even after following the instructions, the controllers work sometimes and then they temporarily stop working.
I have e-mailed back and forth with retrogaminghouse whom I purchased the product from and I follow their instructions, but sometimes they take a while to e-mail back and so I thought I would see if I could get advice on here.
I did see a thread from years back where someone suggested that the controllers need to be the same exact controller but I don't know if that is true or what. The controllers look exactly the same and have the same exact buttons, but I noticed that when I configure the controllers when starting emulationstation, one controller says gamesir on the screen and the other says x-box 360. So I don't know if an x-box 360 controller was repurposed into a gamesir controller.
I don't know, and I'm sure I sound like I have barely any idea what I'm talking about, anyways any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Silvergamer

Did you install using the RetroPie's installation or purchased the system already installed ? What version of RetroPie is it using ? What N64 emulator are you using and have issues with ?
but I noticed that when I configure the controllers when starting emulationstation, one controller says gamesir on the screen and the other says x-box 360. So I don't know if an x-box 360 controller was repurposed into a gamesir controller.
Check if you have the
xboxdrv
driver package installed - remove it if it's installed. -
Thanks for the reply! You know, I'm not entirely sure which version of retropie it is, I looked in the retroarch/retropie folder on emulationstation and couldn't see where it said what version it is. But yes, the odroid xu4 came installed with retropie and emulationstation.
Do you know how I can figure out what emulator is used for the nintendo 64 games? Also where do I check if I have xboxdrv installed?
I will try to figure out some of these things looking at the odroid xu4 again, and I will e-mail retrogaminghouse to see if they can answer what version of retropie and what emulators are used for the nintendo 64. The website says the newest version of retropie, but I'm not sure what version that is.
I'll also record a video of me starting the system and looking into the retroarch/retropie folder and record the issues that I'm having, and seeing if I can post that video on here if that is allowed.

We don't support systems sold with RetroPie/EmulationStation & roms. You can install RetroPie on Odroid XU4 as indicated here, this will get you the most recent version of RetroPie.
