[Solved] "User Error" can not connect more than one controller via bluetooth - 8bitdo
-
Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 4 8GB, NESPi4 case, SSD without SD card
Power Supply used: retroflag nespi4 and official
RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): 4.7.7 and previous to updating
Built From: retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi4_400.img
USB Devices connected: keyboard
Controller used: 8BitDo SN30 Pro, 8BitDo SN30 Pro
Error messages received: An error occurred connecting to the bluetooth device (Creating device failed: org.bluez.Error.AlreadyEists:Already Exists)
Verbose log (if relevant):
Guide used: retropie docs
File: (File with issue - with FULL path)
Emulator: (Name of emulator - if applicable)
Attachment of config files: (PLEASE USE PASTEBIN.COM FOR LARGE LOGS)
How to replicate the problem: Attempt to connect and pair bluetooth controllers. When attempting to add controllers, the first 8BitDo controller has no issue pairing and connecting. Attempting to pair and connect a second controller results in the above error message. The controller is paired but will not connect. Have attempted using different controller modes when pairing, using the bluetooth menu option - connect to all paired devices, uninstalling and reinstalling bluez (usually necessary after i try enough different solutions to get one controller working again), setting up udev rule for joypad, and for kicks tried pairing a dual shock 4 which also did not work and gives error (Creating device failed: org.bluez.Error.InProgress: In progress) and controller does not stay paired like the second 8bitdo controller, pairing the other one first works and creates the same problem trying to add second controller, updating controller firmware to 1.35
Basically I am out of ideas here, and see varying degrees of this issue which contributed to some of my attempts to remedy the issue, but none of the solutions I have found on here have worked for me.

It's a firmware issue they already acknowledged and fixed, here's something to help you out:
-
ALl my 8BitDo's are updated currently.
Thank you for attempting to assist though, I figure someone will hit something I havent tried sooner or later.

Its always the last thing. Must have had some kind of hardware issue. reflashing my ssd has solved any issues. no idea what the original cause was. Some random little glitch is my guess. I was trying to avoid reflashing because of how far along I was in config, but backed it up and restoring it now that the controllers are all working. Thanks for attempting to help me h2805270, i appreciate it.
