Each time I'm installing the Daphne emulator and rebooting, the ES starts to boot correctly and then the process is interrupted with a folder error and aborted. When I remove the emulator with retropie_setup.sh, everything works fine again. My guess it's related to the gamelists and/or filesystems, but I have no clue how to fix it.

I have the parse gamelists only option ticked, as it speeds up the boot process amazingly.

I'm on RPi 4 4GB, Retropie 4.7.1, official image, installing the Daphne emulator from binary, running roms from a 2TB external drive.

      Here the latest es_log.txt:

And this is my folder structure:

@gordonfreemanjr The log file is truncated, it's not the entire log.

Related to Daphne, make sure you only have .daphne folders in the roms/daphne and not any file with the .daphne extension.

@mitu I attempted another reboot and this a new es_log.txt:
          https://pastebin.com/6zgneeDh

Apparently this is exactly how they turn out with this error.

Also, I made sure: there are no .daphne files in the roms/daphne folder: only .daphne folders.

          Here's the exact error message:

emulationstation: /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation/es-app/src/FileData.cpp:218: void FileData::addChild(FileData*): Assertion 'mType == FOLDER' failed.
          Aborted

@mitu I seem to remember that Daphne showed up fine until I started using the parse gamelists only option. I don’t want to go back, as starting the Pi up without it takes about 20 minutes, which makes for 20 more than now.

When I noticed that Daphne is missing, I tried going to Skyscraper to recreate the gamelist. And, yeah, that’s when it broke down. Now whenever the Daphne emulator is installed, the ES boot gets interrupted

@gordonfreemanjr Update Skyscraper and then re-generate the gamelist again from Skyscraper (no need to re-scrape again if you kept your cache intact).

@mitu Thanks. Didn’t work though. Updated Skyscraper, recreated the gamelist, installed the Daphne emulator, rebooted: the ES fails to boot, same error code.
