Something to check I think :

@folly
I don't know if he is aware of what we are doing. -
Indeed, but he is very busy.
He has to read quite some stuff, we already know.
I think he will get the jist. -
We are a bit curious, have you :
- read the first post ?
- read the commented parts in the script on how it's working ?
- installed some handhelds ?
- used the get script ?
-
@folly heya :) i've read the first post, yes. but i haven't tried anything, sorry but i've very few time to dedicate to my hobbies at the moment.
anyway, i have some suggestions:
- forget the 1st post, have a github (being my repo, or a new one doesn't matter.... and list issues/ideas there)
- decide if we want to use my fork or have another, merging mine+folly+dteam work. just, having a single repo imho is the way to go to avoid fragmentation.
- push retropie admins to merge this stuff in the official repo :)

I think he will get the jist.I was talking about the new thread you mentionned above. I had an answer from him. He is a Global Moderator on this site and he gave me his impression about what we are doing.

Sorry , misunderstood, haha.
I wasn't aware of that because I didn't read the stuff.
Will do that.Edit :
Read it, indeed, seems he isn't aware of specific things,
but strangely enough said that he was inspired by our threads.
Mmmm,......I did an extra post on the thread !

Ok, Seems a good plan.
Although you have to take into account, not everyone is that keen on github.
And also, not everyone has a github account.
For me, the syncing and pushing things is something that's still blurry for me too.
So that is why I keep everything here, so everyone can help to improve. But indeed, with your way of doing, we all could learn quite a bit more.

Hi Folly,
I've try (for saturn)
curl "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/FollyMaddy/RetroPie-Share/main/00-scripts-00/generate-systems-lr-mess_mame-2v0-alpha.sh" | bash -s saturn
And It doesn't work. Did I do something wrong.
-
@dteam said in Development of module-script generator for lr-mess and mame standalone:
curl "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/FollyMaddy/RetroPie-Share/main/00-scripts-00/generate-systems-lr-mess_mame-2v0-alpha.sh" | bash -s saturn
I tried your command.
Works on my end, these are generated in /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/ext/RetroPie-Share/scriptmodules/libretrocores :
install-saturn-cmd.sh
install-saturn-from-mamedev-system-saturn-cart.sh
install-saturn-from-mamedev-system-saturn-cdrm.sh
It pushes the files to the new separate external repository directory. If they are not found by the RetroPie-Setup then perhaps you don't have an up to date Setup.
Use this to move your generated files back to the old location.mv /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/ext/RetroPie-Share/scriptmodules/libretrocores/* /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/libretrocores
EDIT :
For others who read this.
You can miss third party module-scripts easily because,
third party module-scripts are the very bottom of the list in the RetroPie-Setup.
So then abovemv
command is not necessary. -
@folly
It works for me with 1.8 version and not 2.0 . I don't know why
i'll try what you said in you last post. -

Ok. You can also use 1.8 that will create it in the old location.Perhaps I am already too much busy in the future š
Curious how saturn will run.
-
Now, It works
-
Now, It works
Great, let me know how it goes.
I am trying also to keep 1.8 updated.
But if we run it now with thecurl
command, our own added platform information can't be used because it extract's it from the script.
With 2.0, it will create a new platforms.cfg in the /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/ext/RetroPie-Share .
With 1.8 I want to do the same so it can work withcurl
but with this version, meant for older versions of RetroPie, you don't have the ext directory.
If I create that, it will be more confusing. So I am still dubbing about it.
I could do the file somewhere else, but that's not really consistent.I Think it's just a matter of time, about a month or so, every one will use the ext directory, don't you think too ?
-
@folly
Yes, I agree.
It worked also before (sorry for the confusion). I didn't see It, because with ext folder, the "package installation lines" are at the deep end of the "manage experimental packages" section (good to know). Probably I was too lazyCurious how saturn will run.
For now, I have .bin (BIOS) issue, but I'll try to fix that today. see here I'm using .chd.
With
mame-system-saturn-cdrm = "/opt/retropie/emulators/mame/mame -v -c saturn -cdrm %ROM%"
gave this in runcommand.log
cdb106.bin NOT FOUND (tried in satcdb saturn) Fatal error: Required files are missing, the machine cannot be run.
I need satcdb file
NEW EDIT
I'm running It. It's slow, bad experience with lr-mess and MAME for Sega Saturn. Even if i'm using autoframeskip. -
@folly said in Development of module-script generator for lr-mess and mame standalone:
š open : Discovered by @DTEAM :
C64 and Atari Jaguar not workingFor C64, It seems to be a BIOS issue. It's not the script... I think. I'll continue to dig It.
New edit:
I give up, I am unable to make it work, even with the real romsetNew edit: Same thing for Jaguar. I can't figure out why
lr-mess-basename = "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch --config /opt/retropie/configs/jaguar/retroarch.cfg -v -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mess/mess_libretro.so %BASENAME%"
Doesn't work and this
lr-mess = "/opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mess/mess_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/jaguar/retroarch.cfg %ROM%"
works
I'm using jaguar and not atarijaguar for testing only
-
I think BASENAME will only work good with systems that use no media,
like the handhelds.I tried Arari Jaguar using
atarijaguar
with :lr-mess-system-jaguar-cart = "/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/run_mess.sh /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mess/mess_libretro.so /opt/retropie/configs/atarijaguar/retroarch.cfg \jaguar /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/mame -autoframeskip -cart %ROM%"
I tried C64, I got this far :
Seems lr-mess/mame problem.
-
Seems I have some luck with c64 prg files that run with the quik option (will try some more tomorrow) :
-
@folly
I'll do more test tomorrow. It seems you have solved the open issue! -

I can playBlagger (1983)(Alligata Software).prg
now in lr-mess (lr-mess-system-c64-quik).
I had to add a hotkey disable button, in the retroarch.cfg :
input_enable_hotkey_btn = "end"
So hotkey's will not be in the way,
(perhaps there is an other solution though)In basic you have to type
run
to run the game.
With aboveend
key enabled you have to pressscroll-lock
so you can useesc
to exit (just like in mame)
