Newb here, I don’t use emulationstation at launch as my rPI is normally doing other functions - with that said i do like to launch it manually from time to time.

Today I rebooted my rPI and there’s a retro pie splash screen - followed by a prompt to login. Normally I have it auto login so this is new. It won’t accept my password for the “pi” user (though I know it’s not incorrect because it will let me know that if I try another password). Instead the screen goes black as if it’s logging in and then goes right back to my password prompt.

      Any guidance would be appreciated!

You can change the auto-login settings from RetroPie-Setup. What version of RetroPie do you have installed ?

@mitu Thanks - I’d seen that suggestion, however after the splash screen appears, the regular rPI login screen comes up and I’m unable to get past that. RetroPie was never set to auto launch so I’m not sure why I’d launching all of a sudden. Is there a way to change that setting if I’m unable to login?

Use SSH to login to your Pi from another PC on the network. You can activate it without having to log in from the console.

@mitu Thanks, I’ll try that out - I can figure out SSH, but do you have a guide on how to activate it remotely so I can make that change?

Edit: ssh ph@(IP address) came back with “connection refused”. Any suggestions? I can confirm that the rPI is running because pihole web admin is online and functional
