Problem with my 4k TV
-
Hello !!
I have a problem with my TV 4K, i can't change resolution and my FPS are around 7 to 15 (in the main menu)
I have a raspberry pi 4 8g
I have nano /boot/config.txt and tried to change resolution (groupe 2 hdmi 82 /// groupe 1 hdmi 31..) but everytime i change it and reboot, i have a black screen and i must ssh to change it back to come back in 4K Can you help me please ?
Thank you . (sorry for my english i'm french)

Can you post the
/boot/config.txt
file - the one that you modified and is not working ? -
@leoxmasa also note that
hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=31
is for a 50hz 1080 mode. you instead likely want
hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=16
which is 1080p60
see https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt/video.md
-
#hdmi_safe=1 #disable_overscan=1 #overscan_left=16 #overscan_right=16 #overscan_top=16 #overscan_bottom=16 #framebuffer_width=1280 #framebuffer_height=720 #hdmi_force_hotplug=1 #hdmi_group=1 #hdmi_mode=31 #hdmi_drive=2 config_hdmi_boost=4 #sdtv_mode=2 #arm_freq=800 #dtparam=i2c_arm=on #dtparam=i2s=on #dtparam=spi=on #dtoverlay=gpio-ir,gpio_pin=17 #dtoverlay=gpio-ir-tx,gpio_pin=18 dtparam=audio=on [pi4] # Enable DRM VC4 V3D driver on top of the dispmanx display stack dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d max_framebuffers=2 [all] #dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d #overscan_scale=1 dtoverlay=RetroFlag_pw_io.dtbo enable_uart=1
This one works (but in 4k). But when i try to do this:
hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=31
or
hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=82
or
hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=16
I have black screen on reboot

@leoxmasa said in Problem with my 4k TV:
hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=16Try adding this to your
config.txt
and reboothdmi_max_pixel_freq:0=200000000 hdmi_max_pixel_freq:1=200000000
-
@leoxmasa said in Problem with my 4k TV:
config_hdmi_boost=4
also note that this option is ignored for pi4

No black screen but still in 4k 30 fps (with group 1 mode 16) and the line you told me to add
pi@retropie:~ $ tvservice -s state 0xa [HDMI CUSTOM RGB lim 16:9], 3840x2160 @ 30.00Hz, progressive
edit: I have black border arround screen now ans i still have low fps

What's the output of:
tvservice -m CEA

I guess you can tell the Pi to ignore the EDID info from the TV. Add these lines (make sure they're not commented):
hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080 hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=16
-
Ok now black screen again (i see command start line but emustation never show and display black screen). In SSH i have this now:
state 0xa [HDMI CUSTOM RGB lim 16:9], 1920x1080 @ 60.00Hz, progressive
-
That't strange. Are you using the image from retropie.org.uk/download ?
-
for my install:
-
I used raspery pi imager (to download the last version)
-
I'm booting on SSD USB
-
I've installed safe shutdown script for my nespi case
Actually in my hardware installation i have the R4 connected to my denon amp, connected to my tv. (it work for all my other devices (ps5 switch et PC)
-
-
I have found a way. I # everything, connecte my raspberry to a no-4k port of my amp audio , and now it show
state 0xa [HDMI CUSTOM RGB lim 16:9], 1920x1080 @ 50.00Hz, progressive
It's seems retropie doesn't like my Audio Amp.
i there anyway to remove the border aound ? :)
-
@leoxmasa Yes, add
disable_overscan=1
toconfig.txt
- see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Overscan/. -
thank you very much to taking for my problem :)
