I'm getting up to speed on SkyScraper, but in the meantime I'd like to add just a few media elements to some of my Favorites (and that also helps me to grasp the inner workings of Retropie).

Atari 2600's Adventure is a good example.

I managed to use SkyScraper to get the images going which use the tag <image>. I noticed also that videos use the <video> tag and I manually added an mpg from screenscraper.fr for Adventure as well. I then tried using the tag <marquee> to add a marquee I found on that same site as follows:

      <image>~/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/atari2600/Adventure (USA)-image.jpg</image>
      <video>~/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/atari2600/Adventure (USA)-video.mp4</video>
      <marquee>~/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/atari2600/Adventure (USA)-marquee.png</marquee>

It works in my Showcase theme, but I've noticed references people made to specific Marquee folders instead of having these in the downloaded_images folder. Is there some reason why these should be in a /.emulationstation/marquees/..... folder?

This is on a RP4 Canakit 8GB setup with 32GB microSD card.

It depends on the scraper used to download the artwork - they may have different save settings (see for instance https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Scraper/#where-are-my-scraped-media-and-metadata-saved). It doesn't really matter where they're stored, as long as the path set in gamelist.xml is correct and EmulationStation can load the file.
