Hello once again. ( I am like a bad meal that keeps repeating)

I have a RPi 3B and 4B and used retropie for several versions now and have never been able to use the raspi-config script to change my keyboard and locales settings. For as long as I have had retropie, I have always had to manually edit the settings.

      Following this for the keyboard

      )

      And this locales

I was just going to post a bug report but it seems they want you to post a thread here first. There is no need to reply - I will wait a couple of days and post a bug report. It would be nice to either fix these scripts or pull the scripts.

In the interim I hope this helps someone

raspi-config is not something that's created or developed by RetroPie - is part of the Raspberry Pi OS and it's maintained by the Raspberry Pi folks. What error do you get when you run it and try to change the locale or keyboard settings ? How are you running raspi-config ?

          Hi there again:

"raspi-config is not something that's created or developed by RetroPie - is part of the Raspberry Pi OS and it's maintained by the Raspberry Pi folks. What error do you get when you run it and try to change the locale or keyboard settings ? How are you running raspi-config"

I realize it is a raspberry pi OS tool. I am able to use it successfully, on my Raspberry Pi OS Cards. It has never worked for me on my RPi 3B or RPi 4B retropie builds. Is it possible that part of the script needs some adjustment when using it in Retropie?

          I launch the script from Retropie Desktop and selecting "Raspi-Config" > "5 Localisation(sic >) Options" >"L1 Locale"

I go and try and change the setting from "en_GB.UTF-8 UTF-8" to "en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8".

I am unable to deselect "en_GB.UTF-8 UTF-8" or select "en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8" When I attempt to select
          "[ ] en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8" I can not place a * in the [ ]. I am unable to remove the * from the "[ ] en_GB.UTF-8 UTF-8" line. I leave the cursor on "[ ] en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8"

          Configuring locales

Default locale for the system environment:

          None
          C.UTF-8
          en_GB.UTF-8

I then get a message that it is:
          generating locales
          en_GB.UTF-8

          I see no errors.

how are you selecting/deselecting? on a keyboard it's the space bar, and then you need to use the tab key to select 'OK' (and then enter to use it).
