Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 4B
      Power Supply used: USB adapter
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.7.1
Built From: downloaded it from retropie website
Controller used: trying to use the builtin gamepad
i've been struggling for a couple of weeks and i managed to use the joystick and buttons successfully on the main menu, however when i click and join any game that i downloaded, the builtin buttons and joystick stop working and ill have to use a keyboard to be able to control and play the games, anyone know what i should do? im so close yet so far

@xu-xiaolan There's no 'built-in gamepad', so what exactly are you trying to do? It sounds to me like you've bought a prebuilt system, in which case you would have to seek out the maker for support.

@thorr69 i believe you misunderstood, i bought the picade and had to build it myself and im having trouble with the joystick and 10 buttons that are provided with the casing, unless that might be a misunderstanding on my part

Did you install any additional drivers to make the gamepad work ? If so, which one(s) ?

@mitu sorry for late reply, im kind of a beginner so i wouldnt know off the top of my head but i've been formatting the SD card a lot so i dont think i've downloaded any additional drivers, all i've downloaded is the picade.dtbo file because my /boot/overlays/ didnt have one (that took me a while to find) and edited the config to add some 2 lines of text that i was told i need

@xu-xiaolan I assume you followed the installation instructions from the picate-hat page ? If so, then the .dtbo will configure the input for the HAT and there's no need for an additional driver.

It looks to me that the input on the HAT is mapped to a keyboard - did you went through the controller configuration steps ? This should configure your gamepad in both EmulationStation and most emulators. What games have you tried starting and they're not working ?

@mitu so uh, i followed through the picade.hat page, did the github clone thing and when rebooting the rainbow screen comes up, some lines go through and I'm met with a black screen, what now?

@xu-xiaolan i believe this might be something to do with resolution so ill look around and see if i missed anything in the guide
