      Earlier today I was messing with RetroArch settings to try and improve graphics and frame rate for my Play Station games, and everything was fine until I started messing with bilinear filtering. I turned it on and it didn’t give the desired effect I wanted for gameplay (introduced screen tearing), so I went to turn it off. As soon as I turned it off, the game crashed. Ever since then every play station game crashes and will not even start up. I did the same thing with PSP and they all crash as well.

      Any idea why this is happening or how to fix it? I tried resetting RetroArch settings and restarting RetroPie, but no luck.

        @bdpyle please fill out all of https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. a verbose log is crucial, for example. we should also see the settings files in question:
        /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
        /opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg

            @dankcushions also I’m not quite sure by what you mean by a verbose log

                @bdpyle said in PSX and PSP games won’t start after adjusting RetroArch settings:

                @dankcushions here is the .../all/retroarch.cfg settings: https://pastebin.com/exPPq2QB

                this is non-default. you should go to retropie defaults by deleting this file, and renaming the retroarch.cfg.rp-dist file in the same directory (if it doesn't exist, update retroarch via retropie_setup packages > core) to retroarch.cfg

                and the .../psx/retroarch.cfg settings: https://pastebin.com/FXqhJHGL

                video_driver = "x11"

                delete this. no idea why you'd set this.

                video_fullscreen_x = "800"
                video_fullscreen_y = "480"

                pointless to set this. i would delete

                video_refresh_rate = "59.000000"

                same.

                  @dankcushions okay, thanks for the suggestions. I’ll try it out and get back to you. The resolution and refresh rate settings are set to the resolution of the display I’m using for my retro portable I’m building.

                      @bdpyle Word of advice - don't use 'Reset Configuration' in RetroArch, the defaults it creates are not best suited for a Pi/RetroPie installation.
