Has anyone here played games like Robotron or Smash TV on MAME where you used a Dual stick controller to move and shoot just like the original arcade versions that came with two joysticks. I've seen posts where some people are having issues configuring both sticks to work independently but are only able to configure the left stick but it winds up controlling both movement and shooting. Just wondering cause if it's not possible, then I'll get a controller without the sticks. Thanks.

@fretman I have Robotron 2084 and Cloak & Dagger set up in MAME and both are great fun!

@iandaemon , thanks. Good to know it's possible. What controller do you use?

@fretman I use a dual-arcade-stick control panel. It's so much faster and more comfortable than trying to use buttons for my right hand in "Robotron".

@iandaemon , thanks. I plan on getting the 8bitdo SN30 PRO. That controller comes with 2 sticks but not like yours.

Except if there are bugs i'm unaware of, you should be able to remap any game to the layout you prefer, i believe the main difficulty with mame cores is to not get confused between the different ways to change mapping (mame osd, retroarch's controls menu, retroarch core options's menu, ...), since they are additive iirc.

Note that if you are interested by a plug'n'play experience with modern gamepads, FBNeo has always been a very solid choice, i write its default mapping to be optimal for this.

@barbudreadmon , thanks for the heads up. Will keep that suggestion in mind in case of any issues.
