Atari ST ROM TOS file issue
-
Hi All,
Please bare with me, I am very new to retropie.
I have purchased and got working a retropie. I am able to get ROMS into the n64 and mame folder etc.
I even managed to install the Hatari emulator under the optional emulators.
My issue is this. The sole reason I bought this was to run 2 games for my parents for nostalgic purposes for Christmas.
I am getting an error saying it cannot locate the TOS.img file when I try to run AtariST roms.
I understand there is a copyright issue or something.
However can someone help me locate and place the tos file in the correct location.
I have managed to connect to the pie via WIFI so can drag and drop files however any SSH or whatever is outwith my capabilities :facepalm.
Please please help.
Thanks in advance

@jmcall10 note this one:
I have purchased and got working a retropie.
did you purchase a preinstalled retropie system?

@dankcushions
I bought a starter kit from amazon.
I then flashed a 64gb SD card using raspberry pi imager.I then went into the retropi setup and added the Hatari emulator.
When I put the .st files in the AtariST folder in roms they wont load. I get the error "can not load tos file opt/retropie/emulators/hatari"

@jmcall10 again read https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Atari-ST-STE-TT-Falcon/#bios
you need a BIOS file 'tos.img' that you need to acquire and transfer to the two stated directories. you can transfer via this method: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Transferring-Roms/#sftp

I understand you know how to copy Atari ST games (.st files) to the Atari ST Folder (/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/atarist).The next step in the doc is to copy a file named tos.img into the bios folder (/home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS).
For some reason, you sound like you suddenly "have no idea what to do" at this step. Why not.
step by step:
1/ On your PC, open your web browser, go to Google (it's a search engine), type "tos.img" in the cell. Click on a random link from the results, read the page that just opened until your eyes see "tos.img" on your screen. Click on that tos.img link to download the file tos.img to your PC.
2/ Do exactly what you did when you copied .st files, except it's no more a .st file, it's a tos.img file now, and you don't copy it into the roms/atarist folder anymore. This time you have to copy this tos.img file into the BIOS folder.
