      Hello,
ive got a problem after reinstalling retropie on sd-card.

in retroarch there is no option of multitab at the controller sections.
at my last retropie in that retroarch i could set the controller 2 to multitab for playing bomberman with 4 players for example.
now retroarch looks more pixelated and "older" and there is no multitab option in it.

how can i install the version of retroarch with that mutitab option?
(in retroarch it shows the version of 1.9.7 - no core)

      hope ur doing good
      jan

I think you mean Multitap (not multitab) .

The options for the controller type are not set only by RetroArch, they are also set by the core that's currently running. If you are running RetroArch standalone (i.e. from the RetroPie system), you're not going to see any multitap options in the Device Type - you need to have a core loaded and that core should support multitap.

          hi mitu,

yes, multitap.. im pretty sure that my last installation retroarch shown up the multitap option without starting a game or anything else.
now i figured out that i can klick the L1 button while playing a game and go to the retroarch option and there is a multitap option, but by klicking that i will not be able to play in 4-player-mode.

it's strange, i tried everything to get to the other retroarch version. and i definitely have the same retropie version because the last version is from 2020 and i made my last version in december 2021.

It's just strange that I don't even have a retropie splash screen now, even though I didn't activate or change it last time.
something is different, I just don't know what.

retroarch in retropie should always look something like this:
            39b44100-2365-4c2b-be08-ac497ee582f7-image.png

because it uses the RGUI menu driver. any other menu drivers means you're using a third party image, or have customized/deleted/otherwise broken your configs.

              How so ?

RetroPie is always updated, even if there is no image released. There's no other RetroArch version available, unless you install from the image, which has an older RetroArch version.

If you didn't activate it, then how why it would be active ? Not sure how exactly you've installed RetroPie, can you give more details ?
