      (Raspberry Pi 4, RetroPie 4.7.20, RetroArch 1.10.0, mupen64plus [installed from binary - build date 2022-01-22T21:32:33-08:00], lr-mupen64plus-next [installed from binary - build date 2022-01-13T06:53:46-08:00]. All updated or reinstalled today, starting with an apt update && full-upgrade.)

      I have found best performance with mupen64plus-gles2rice with "ScreenUpdateSetting" changed to "7" in /opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg line 602 to correct a jitter, and video mode set to 640x480, 4:3 in the runcommand launch settings to correct the aspect ratio.

      This plays out pretty well in-game, except:

      • the screen flickers horribly when viewing the in-flight photos after a test, and

      • the red portion of the landing pad turns invisible when I get near it. I can still see the brickwork texture pattern, but it's just green like the grass underneath instead of red. The white part is still white:

      This seems to be based on distance; when I use the rocket pack, I can approach and retreat, and the target will change from red to green and back:

      These issues aren't present in lr-mupen64plus-next or mupen64plus-GLideN64; instead, they have more distracting issues during gameplay. lr-next renders the entire column of my craft's shadow whenever I'm over land, instead of just the part where it intersects the ground (renders correctly over water), and all text in GLideN64 looks like it has been redacted by the government:

      (gles2n64 and lr-next are even worse. gles2n64only shows as a small picture in the lower-left of my display. Even on my smallest available video mode, 640x480, it still only fills one quadrant. And it has the same shadow problem as lr-next, except that it's solid black instead of only darkened. And lr-plus shows a black screen with some colorful "noise" (most of the options show this same "noise," but it's usually behind the image) and I can only see it when it's paused. I can see then that the game is "happening" in the background, but when I un-pause it's back to noisy-black.)

      Does anyone have any ideas or solutions for these issues?

        @sleve_mcdichael the gliden64 issue is a known regression https://github.com/gonetz/GLideN64/issues/2641

        I would wait for a fix for gliden64. Gles2rice is no longer being updated so there won't be any fixes there.

          @quicksilver thanks. Looks like it's relatively recent and has got some attention, I guess that's promising in terms of it getting fixed soon.
