ES Custom SVG Logo pack (includes specific Mame logos)

We could use this kind of logo for System view. Should look better.

Yes.
@meleu can you please provide more info on this ?
specific svg file names to be used or ES configuration ?ES configuration. The theme.xml file explicitly specifies the image for each view. But usually theme makers use the same image for all views.
As an example you can see this theme.xml for gameboy on Carbon theme:
https://github.com/RetroPie/es-theme-carbon/blob/master/gb/theme.xml
-
@UDb23 yep. I found a cleaner png version on wikipedia:

Thanks, will check it.

Recreated and optimized in SVG:
Available in the More folder with the other MegaMan logo (I optimized that one too).

@UDb23 nice work man! I'm on a trip now but will see how it looks on Carbon as soon as I get home (wednesday).
Thanks very much!
-
@UDb23 Wow!! Finally had a chance to test it. Really cool! Huge thanks for that!
-
@meleu I just replied, before reading this, with same "wow!" about your new script for custom systems.
:-))There will be a new SVG logo for those, like me, wanting to have a "custom system" collecting our favorite SHOOT'EM UPs over the next days... ;-)
-
@UDb23 hi!
Apologies for barging in.
I suppose I wouldn't be able to interest you in helping out with this, I suppose?
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/10988/help-needed-new-systems-for-carbon-for-upcoming-es-feature
Feel free to say "no" though I came to this thread hoping to see if it'd be something we could use for this purpose. It's mainly the vector/line controller icon, and a system logo for those three.
Sorry for the trouble, and thanks in advance for your time and reading this through.
-
@pjft Sure I can help !
Do you already have an idea on how you would icons and logo look like or should I just try doing something freely ? -
@UDb23 Oh wow, thank you! we can move to the other thread if you'd like, but I don't have any particular preference - I like to give the artists some freedom :)
Ultimately, it's just something that would be consistent with the Carbon theme (I'm thinking in particular of the controllers), and that would be evocative of:
- "All games" (which means all systems as well)
- "Favorites"
- "Last Played" (the list of all games you played, sorted by most recent first)
So I don't know. I follow your work and it's usually of very high quality, so I have no concerns, if it's something you think it'd be fun to do as well!
Ultimately I suppose consistency would be the key, so that it'd be accepted into the Carbon main repository, but other than that, no further thoughts. :)
Thank you very much.
-
@pjft OK; of course I considered consistency as key already ;-)
Give me a couple of days and I'll come back to you with some draft. -
@meleu Beautiful, but you're missing a trick there, get X4, X5, X6 and 8 for PS1, they run flawlessly. Maybe even Mega Man: The Wily Wars for the Mega Drive.
-
@UDb23 Thank you very much - and please, take your time! :)
-
Shoot'em up SVG logo created. Check first post in this thread.

Just found this guys page, but he redid a bunch of PS1 logos in vector

Hi!
A small update: I just submitted a PR for those 3 systems.
https://github.com/RetroPie/EmulationStation/pull/168
There will still be a review and testing process, but wanted to give the heads up, just in case there's anything I can do to help here!
Thanks in advance - and once again - for the help :)
-
Hi @UDb23 .
Apologies for adding one more thing if possible. Once again, no urgency. I just made the same request/update on the Comic Book theme.
I'm wondering if it'd be possible to ask you to create a separate theme folder as well, under
custom-collections
folder for users to be able to create their own collections under it, should there not be a custom theme for it. The "system" name would be "Game Collections" or "Collections", I suppose. This comes from @cyperghost 's suggestion, which after thinking it through I think makes some sense and is an elegant way to standardize the support for these features across themes.
This way, if you create a
MAME ROW
collection (@meleu - I'm looking at you), if you have aMAME ROW
theme folder it will use it as an entry in the systems list. If not, it will create a subfolder under thisGame Collections
entry on the system list. That way you could use whatever theme you'd want, and create whatever collections you'd want, without being restricted by existing theme folders, provided that thatcustom-collections
folder exists. Sogames with overlays
,best-of 2-player games
,games with moustached plumbers
, whatever - people can create them and organize them without needing a specific theme entry.Hope this clarifies the intent, and thanks in advance for the time here - even if just reading this, regardless of whether you will pursue this.
No urgency whatsoever. :)

I understand the concept but it is a little bit unclear what you'd like me to do:
required artwork for a "custom system" named "Game Collections" or "Collections" ?Eventually also svg logos/artwork for common collections like "shmups" (already available), platforms, run & gun, fighting etc ?
-
@UDb23 Would I be very inconvenient if I asked you to upload those files to github?
I'm not planning to write a tool to install them this time. :) It's just because download things directly in the raspi using command line is pretty handy...
