Yes, I AM YELLING with "TWICE AS LOUD" in caps lol... because it's literally that loud. Video snaps are SUPER loud, in-game audio is super soft.

Actually, I think it's more that I have to turn the volume WAY up to hear the audio in a game, then when I exit back out it's literally like a freight train is going by my house the volume is SOOO LOUD on the Video snaps.

So how can I adjust the volume of each thing separately? I literally had my neighbor text me one night asking me nicely to turn it down... (I've been doing a lot of testing lately on these new Zero 2's...).

I searched and found a couple topics about this but no good solution (and no, I'm not re-processing like 20,000+ video snaps to lower their volume as was suggested lol). Adjusting the individual RetroArch core (if it's a RA core) volume doesn't work either as it only goes to +12 dB (goes all the way to -78 on the other end for some reason...) and I would need WAY more volume to get it to match the volume of the snaps.

I didn't list my system specs as this happens on all of my Pi's, a RP3, PR4, and Zero 2. Adjusting the EmulationStation volume doesn't help fyi - as that seems to be overall volume.

        Disable omxplayer for video snaps.

That was the default setting I left to "off".

Usually omxplayer is 'louder' since it has it's own idea of the volume. Otherwise, have no idea why the ES volume is not applied correctly.

How are you outputting the audio - HDMI/Analog ? If you open the 'Audio' setting and open the volume mixer, what's the volume set to ?

I think it's more that certain emulators are lower than each other so if I have to turn the volume up in a game, once I exit out the video snaps are really loud.

So if the regular snaps volume isn't able to be adjusted, does the OMXPlayer have a way to adjust volume (and if so, how/where)? Maybe I can tweak that along with the -78 to +12 dB of the emulators and get a sensible middle ground (or do the latter with the stock player and see what happens).

Sound is just regular HDMI cable from the Pi to my AVR/Receiver which runs all the sound for my TV, no special settings.

And 'audio' setting, as in ES menu and hit Start > Sound Settings? That's at 96% - I don't see anything called 'mixer' there unless I missed it in a submenu or elsewhere.

That's pretty high, even without omxplayer. My guess is you've modified the RetroArch settings for the sound and you're not using the system audio volume, but some config that got saved.

96% is the default a new build has come with for years if I'm not mistaken (if we're talking about the same menu, in ES, when you hit 'start' > Sound).

Also impossible for me to change the sound volume as I wouldn't even know where to start looking to do such a thing (which is also why I posted here about audio since I know near to nothing about it ;)
