Configure the iPAC2
-
I got an iPAC2 for my pi3 and connected in an arcade cabinet, and need help.
From the Downloads of the website (https://www.ultimarc.com/control-interfaces/i-pacs/i-pac2/) it directs here (https://katiesnow.webs.com/) for a python script. I tried to run with no luck. Please help me with these questions.
Which directory is best to copy the file to?
What do I run in the command? sudo nano /file.py?
Can I run it over SSH or must it be console? -

@rasp_renegade Hello, I use also an Ipac2 with my Raspberry Pi 3b+. After you connected all the buttons (one or two players setup), arcade sticks and maybe a trackball, you don't have to install any software for using with the Retropie.
If you bought an Ipac2 late 2015-onwards, it is delivered with a new firmware that you can change how the Ipac2 emulates between a keyboard or gamepad modes.Kind regards

For sure it was just plug and play??? I have the power light lit on the ipac2 but that is all I get. I even put a new image on a SD card and tried on there with no luck. Is there any way to test this thing?

@rasp_renegade Hello yes you can test it under windows system. In keyboard mode you will see an extra keyboard under system, in gamepad mode you will see a gamecontroller. Beside this you can download the WinIPAC Version 2 for windows for proofing or changing the configuration of ipac2,and it's firmware version or updating the firmware. New ipac2 is delivered with a firmware version 1.55. If not you have to update to the new version. Then If you press and hold Player1 Start and and Player1 Switch1 for ten- eleven seconds it is reacting as a keyboard. For gamepad mode ( I use this mode) just press hold for ten- eleven seconds Player1 Start and Player1 Switch2. Also I'm using an original Retropie Image from their website. Because longtime ago I had really bad experiences with such a third party images some drivers and emulators was missing and some miners or viruses was included in such sd-card images and an update to the newer versions was also blocked.
Kind Regards

I didnt think it would work, but configuring in Windows with correct key maps, then switching back to the pi did the trick. I just have the worst luck. Thank you!

@rasp_renegade Hello, it happened to me too. But after loading a new firmware ( IPAC2_155c.ufw ) under the WinIPAC, I also loaded the Default Ipac2.ipc ( you can find it under C:\Program Files (x86)\WinIPAC V2\Defaults\ folder. Somehow before this there was no keys are mapped. The default Ipac2.ipc solving such a problem easily.
Kind Regards
